Cowboy10uk Posted January 3, 2013 Posted January 3, 2013 Hi all, Well we all knew this was coming, I've now got my touchscreen monitor, and despite thinking I had all the info I needed and it would be a straight forward addon to the cockpit I've hit a slight problem. Now I think it's because I'm using Nvidia, my plan was to have my 3 23" monitors for the main view as I have now, yet have the new 24" touchscreen as a accessory monitor, which from what I read, nvidia surround would do. However although it sees it, It keeps saying its not available. Now when I turn off surround and just setup multi monitor it will see it and display onto the touchscreen, But the touch although working, when I press my touchscreen it shows up one of the none touch 23" monitors. Still with me. The only way I can get windows to display the touch cursor on my 24" touchscreen is to set that up as primary monitor. But if I do that, everything including the games, only displays on the touchscreen and not the 3 23" monitors. Now I know you can use 3 screens and one touchscreen setup, as so many of you have managed it. Was wondering if there is anyone else who has done it, using 1 gtx 680 or similar and if so, would someone mind talking me through this. All I want, is to have 3 x 23" as main monitors for both windows and Gaming, and the Touchscreen for Helios or as an extension to the cockpit ala GregP. Once I get windows setup correctly, I am planning to use SoftTH for DCS. I have them set up in a T formation with the Touchscreen below my middle 23" monitor. All monitors are 1920 x 1080 and connected via DVI for 3 x 23" and DP to Hdmi for the Touchscreen. Hoping someone answers soon. PeterP Posted January 3, 2013 Posted January 3, 2013 Sorry, a) Nvidea surround works only for max three monitors . b) check if the producer of the touch-screen has drivers the allow you to configure the active space at your will. If such drivers aren't available for your model - return it asap.
Cowboy10uk Posted January 3, 2013 Author Posted January 3, 2013 Bugger, after all the questions I asked, it looks like I still got it wrong. I do have a Nvidia HD chip on my motherboard, if I connected it too that, would that work or not?. Really want to make this work, I have installed SoftTH into dcs and plan on using that rather than surround when I'm flying, if I can find a way to get it showing the touchscreen movement on the correct monitor then at least I'm heading in the right direction. Iiyama Do seem to have drivers on their web page so ill download those as well, when I get home. I'm guessing everyone else is either using amd or more than one nvidia card in their setups. Damn this is so bloody annoying, all I want to do is fly with a touchscreen cockpit and a tri screen view, like so many others. Cowboy10uk [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Fighter pilots make movies, Attack pilots make history, Helicopter pilots make heros. :pilotfly: Corsair 570x Crystal Case, Intel 8700K O/clocked to 4.8ghz, 32GB Vengeance RGB Pro DDR4 3200 MHZ Ram, 2 x 1TB M2 drives, 2 x 4TB Hard Drives, Nvidia EVGA GTX 1080ti FTW, Maximus x Hero MB, H150i Cooler, 6 x Corsair LL120 RGB Fans And a bloody awful Pilot
danilop Posted January 3, 2013 Posted January 3, 2013 Well, according to this page you can have three displays in surround and one accessory display on single 670: http://www.geforce.com/hardware/technology/3dvision-surround/system-requirements Maybe DCS is not supporting this?
Cowboy10uk Posted January 3, 2013 Author Posted January 3, 2013 Technically yes, but ill be damned if I can get it to use the new touchscreen as an accessory. :( [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Fighter pilots make movies, Attack pilots make history, Helicopter pilots make heros. :pilotfly: Corsair 570x Crystal Case, Intel 8700K O/clocked to 4.8ghz, 32GB Vengeance RGB Pro DDR4 3200 MHZ Ram, 2 x 1TB M2 drives, 2 x 4TB Hard Drives, Nvidia EVGA GTX 1080ti FTW, Maximus x Hero MB, H150i Cooler, 6 x Corsair LL120 RGB Fans And a bloody awful Pilot
airdog Posted January 3, 2013 Posted January 3, 2013 (edited) My guess is that you are not setting up your touch screens properly Go to this link and folow its instructions. http://www.gadrocsworkshop.com/node/48 First I would go thru the setup with your monitors set exactly as they would be in the game...as in the top 3 screens set in surround and the touch screen placed in the proper position in display properties. Any change to your monitor setup after you go thru the touchscreen/calibration routine will make your touchscreen not work properly as windows will not know where it is. When you are going thru the touch screen setup in the Tablet PC settings all your screens will turn white and only one will have text with the instructions. Read it carefully...as you have to hit enter on non-touchscreens to move to identify the screen as non-touch and when the instructions finally get to the touch screen you touch that screen until it tells you to move on. It may take more than one touch. I can't stress how important this is as it is very easy to screw this up I and a few others I have helped in the past have made this mistake. After the touchscreen is properly identified in windows you need to go thru the calibration routine. On the tablet pc setting tab make sure you select the correct monitor before pressing the calibration button. When you get to the calibration screen it should have 4 touches per corner of the monitor to do the correct calibration. If its only 4 points per corner something may not be correct. Good luck! Cowboy10uk Posted January 3, 2013 Author Posted January 3, 2013 (edited) WooHoo, Airdog You're the man. Its working, The damn thing is working :) Just trying to work my way through Helios now and setup Loz's stunning profile, Had a quick go and most of it apart from the exports was in the wrong place, so a little more fiddling and away we go. Cant thankyou enough. :) Knew it was something simple. RTFM, thats what I get for being too keen to fly.
