sslechta Posted February 8, 2013 Posted February 8, 2013 With something like Thrustamster T.Flight HOTAS X you're not getting a second mortgage and it's perfectly adequate to see if hard core flight simulators are your thing. Thanks Danilop! I've been shopping online the past few days for a good entry flight stick since I'm just using a game controller now. I've also been looking at the X52. A local computer store here has a T.Flight HOTAS X for about half price what I see if for on Amazon.com. I think I'm going home with this controller tonight! I have one that needs a home and I would be amenable to any decent offer that covers shipping. If the store ends up out of stock or something, I'll PM you. Their site said they had 2 in stock. How did you like the controller before you upgraded? cichlidfan Posted February 8, 2013 Posted February 8, 2013 Thanks Cichlidfan! If the store ends up out of stock or something, I'll PM you. Their site said they had 2 in stock. How did you like the controller before you upgraded? I found it to be very nice. It has a better, more solid feel than anything else I have used for under $100. The fact that you can separate the throttle and stick is a really nice bonus. If it weren't for the fact that I have too much 'stuff' already in the closet, I would hold onto it just because it isn't junk. sslechta Posted February 9, 2013 Posted February 9, 2013 Hey Steve, I picked up that Hotas X. Works great! Since I learned from my game controller not to bother with installing drivers, I just plugged it in. I was able to keep most of the key mappings, only tweaking a few that were more appropriate for the flight stick. This flies a lot smoother than the game controller. I'm very happy with the purchase. cichlidfan Posted February 9, 2013 Posted February 9, 2013 Hey Steve, I picked up that Hotas X. Works great! Glad you like it. As I said, it is a decent stick and should serve you well. The best part is that if you decide to upgrade you have not spent a lot of money on the current HOTAS. pii Posted February 10, 2013 Posted February 10, 2013 Hi! If you can spend it: Thrustmaster Warthog. Easy choice. If the cost of that is too steep (understandable, retail at 400$ or so I think...) go for a Saitek X52 or X52-pro. My first serious stick was the X52. The best price I found was 422.00 from Amazon if Amazon is the seller. The other sellers are as high as 600.00. I did find one for 399 at Fry's but they wanted 124.00 to ship it ! So Amazon with a free Prime trail you can have it shipped overnight for 3.99. much better than 124.00! But yeah its pricey either way.
