How To Correct Tracking Problem With Aircraft?

I've noticed that all my planes seem to track left when they are flying and require me to either hold right in or trim it out. Is there a way to fix this tendency? Is there some setting in lock on that will cure it? If there is, I sure can't find it. I can trim it, but then the plane has right rudder in it and doesn't track inverted which tells it has something to do with the way it's setup. It should track straight at normal airspeeds as there is no P-Factor, or Spiraling Slipstream with a Jet.

Aw, and BTW, this is with 0 wind, so it's not a cross wind component.

Well if it was the controller, the aircraft wouldn't be carrying right trim. When you go to outside view, the plane is definitely carrying right rudder, you can see it.

ANother thing that tells me that it's the airplane is when i roll inverted it will track opposite, which is what it would do if the actual aircraft was carrying trim.

If your controller was pulling left, then you'd have to trim right. Which is what you're seeing right?

My point is I never have to use rudder trim.

No, I have to put in trim becasue the airplane has left trim in it. When I trim it right, it centers the rudders which is where they should be. If I don't trim the aicraft track left and has left rudder.

What JS controller do you use? Using an axis for your rudder commands?

Try setting a small deadzone to keep your JS from constantly sending rudder inputs.

Well, right now, I'm using my old twist stick. My CH Setup is being setup right now, and I haven't got it all configured, so I had to put the old stick back on there for the time being.

It's always done this, but now it's aggravating me.

I don't know how to put it into the right words. It can't be the stick, because if I were to put right rudder in the stick, then it wouldn't track right inverted becasue I would have the stick setup to carry *uneeded* right rudder in the stick.

Oh I believe, but that's not what mine is doing. It sits there with left rudder in it.

Just so you'll believe. Here's what my rudder looks like untouched by me.

Disconnect your stick, and fly with the keyboard to show yourself it's not the sim, but your stick. Either that or download a profile for the CH stick and try that. It shouldn't take more than 10 minutes to hook up the CH.

Jinker, I have a brand new Flaming Cliffs profile uploaded at the CH Hangar. Just remove the TQ from the profile. There's a comprehensive read me that discusses all the features.

Tried the calibrate, and flew, and no go, but I did find the dead zone on LOMAC, and bumped it up about a bar and a half, and now the thing will pain a centerline inverted or right side up. I flew inverted passes with it, and upraight passes down the runway, and it tracked true, and when i taxied back, the thing will hold the centerline hands off now.

I guess this cheap stick just doesn't have any centering ability like my CH does.

Yep, I got it. I've got to make a couple changes to it though. i wrote you on CH about one of them. I'm also waiting on that TIR4 still. I didn't order it until thursday, so it'll be a couple days before I get it. I don't know how how their shipping is, but I hope it gets here.

My system is also caseless right now, and there's a mess in here. Did some mods to ther VC, and while I had it out I cleaned all fans and the mobo and all that stuff.

Just got alot going on. I'll get it all eventually.

I've been flying like mad too. Can't get nothing done when you're flying all your fre time away. hehe

You know the 'ole saying... "I'd rather be flying" :)

Thanks everybody! It looks like that did the trick. I can't belive this stick is that bad. I just couldn't figure out what was causing it, because I had it all setup, and it didn't do that before with the old stick or the new one. Maybe after flying with a CH you notice that stuff! ;)

You shouldn't punish yourself by flying without your CH gear. :)

Now this is going to sound dumb, but I got so much stuff laying here on this desktop loose, that I don't wanna take a chance on something getting knocked off and broke, or pulled off, or scratched. I got alot of money in that setup, and I'm very proud of it. That HOTAS setup is one of my prized possesions. I just got it maybe a month or so ago now tops...yeah, aqbout the beginning of Nov is when I got it.

BTW, do you know if CH uses pots in their controllers? I was wondering how the wear characteristics were if they do. I have seen some control systems online that use hall effect sensors, and know that those don't wear as they are magnetic, and don't have wipers like a pot does. I've also seen electronic solid state pots, but I doubt they'd use those as they are very expensive.

Yes, the CH stuff uses pots. They must be some kind of super pots, because they seem to last forever. My CH setup is 3 years old and the pots are as steady as they were when they were new. The Cougar needs optical sensors. Not CH..;)
