This might be a silly question, but I've searched and can't find an answer so:

Is it possible to install multiple copies of Lock On on the same PC? Specifically, I have Flaming Cliffs 1.11 but I have friends who haven't/aren't going to buy FC any time soon, but we want to fly online together. No problem, I'll install a second copy and only patch it to 1.02.....how do I do that then?!?

Also, if we wanted to set up a 'dedicated server' (I use the quotes because of the obvious lack of a dedicated server) from a licencing perspective would we need to buy the server a copy? That might or might not be a silly question - I guess a proper dedicated server (a-la il2) is a 'crippled' version of the game and thus doesn't need licencing?

Thank you for any help and advice you can offer.

The easiest route to multiple installs:

Install v1.02.

Copy the contents of that folder to another folder, labelled Lomac v1.02.

Install v1.1 into the directory that Lomac v1.02 was installed into (not the one you copied it into).

You now have v1.1 installed, and a copy of v1.02.

Remember to run them from the lockon.bat file, and both installs should work fine.

Strictly speaking, every PC you install Lomac on requires it's own licence. Strictly speaking ;)

If you are running Flaming Cliffs, you WILL need to use an extra activation on it . . .

There is a dedicated server tool for Lomac - it works by mouse clicks on areas of the screen that just happen to have important buttons on them.

It's automated, but doesn't provide any significant performance benefit that I'm aware of.

I also have a copy of the [Lock On] folder I renamed LockMod. I use this for offline and direct connect (Like the VFAT Show) modified environments. (I keep my HL linked 1.11 version clean of any loman mods) I have linked Loman to this folder so when I want to run the VFAT mod version I just launch it from Loman.

I also have two .reg files that toggle the registry entry that Hyperlobby uses so I can switch between 1.02 and 1.11 if needed (but 1.02 is going the way of the dodo it seems - haven't ran that for over a month now)

Licensing provides for running one copy on one machine at a time. If you do more than that you should purchase multiple copies as necessary.

When all else fails, Eject then read the manual.

Oh, and a good wingman helps.

Where the heck are the .bat files? I have every version of install backed up.

Ok, there are no .bat files in the 1.0x series of the game. Sucks cuz I'm gonna have to revert to an earlier install to do Ironhand's tutorials on video.
