Well, of course it's not but the scanzone controls behave like it is.

Example: if you are banked 90 degrees, say left (left wing pointing towards ground) logic would tell me that scanning up and down would in this case be actually scanning left and right horizontally (like vertical scan works when banked 90 deg), and scanning left/right would be scanning down/up.

But in fact, if you are banked 90 deg moving the scanzone up/down still moves the radar up/down (in relation to horizon), and left/right the same.

So when banked and turning, you should move the scanzone to the side that you are turning into rather than up if you want to pick up the bandit faster.

Don't know if this is a feature or a bug, and dont even care now that i know about this, just wanted to give a heads up about this to other flanker/mig pilots out there.

Cheers.

Yes you are right. When turning it is better to move radar toward our turn direction for faster detection :)

Radar is stabilized so your conclusion is right too.

Reminder: Fighter pilots make movies. Bomber pilots make... HISTORY! :D | Also to be remembered: FRENCH TANKS HAVE ONE GEAR FORWARD AND FIVE BACKWARD :D

It is? Nice feature actually now that i think about it. Thanks for your reply!

Edit. So the radar aligns itself with the plane when vertical scan is enabled, but otherwise it stays stabilized? Hmm.. other behaviour of the radar doesnt support that hypothesis. I shouldn't be able to put the bandit to the corner of the radarcone by banking 45 deg if it would be stabilized... Maybe only the scanzone controls have been made so that it allways behaves that way to make things more simple in a "russian way"? Heh.
