Maniac Posted January 30, 2013 Posted January 30, 2013 Hey all. Im just getting back into the flight sim scene, as far as online sim experiance i played a game called Warbirds and then transitioned over to AcesHigh when it came available. Those are online WWII era flight sims where people play in a server wich hold like 5-600 players every night. They aim for a realistic flight model aswell, its only downfall is that the graphics engine is old, and its starting to hurt immersion. My dream would be if DCS opened up for larger arenas, like 100-150 players atleast. And that they really started to support and develop more aircraft of this era. I would easily pay the 15 dollars an month for that, the same price that AcesHigh is currently charging.
Echo38 Posted January 31, 2013 Posted January 31, 2013 (edited) They aim for a realistic flight model aswell, its only downfall is that the graphics engine is old Hardly the only downside. Engine & systems management and avionics are not even close to realistic in those games. Even the flight model is sorely lacking by the modern standard. Now, I'll grant that they both had amazing flight models for their time (way better than IL-2's)--but this many years later, without massive improvements, they're very dated. They've been left well behind by flight models such as those of DCS and Rise of Flight. R.o.F. does suffer from a lack of realism in engine & systems management, unfortunately, though not as badly as Warbirds and Aces High. But its flight physics are approximately as good as those of DCS, which is to say, at least a full generation ahead of A.H.2. I would easily pay the 15 dollars an month for that, the same price that AcesHigh is currently charging. Not all of us can afford monthly subscriptions to games. Saving up to buy a module is one thing; we can play our other module(s) in the meantime. A monthly subscription, however, would--by necessity--be a deal-breaker. Monthly subs for games are--by their very nature--a rip-off, and exclude the less well-off players from playing the game or sim. I will not support (and could not even if I would) any company which requires a monthly payment to continue playing the game which I paid for in any fashion. My dream would be if DCS opened up for larger arenas, like 100-150 players atleast. And that they really started to support and develop more aircraft of this era. That would be great, wouldn't it? Unfortunately, not enough people play DCS to fill such servers, even if the capability were there. As for more aircraft, well, they just may well be coming. We're all keeping our fingers crossed. 9.JG27 DavidRed Posted January 31, 2013 Posted January 31, 2013 well, i really dont mind to pay good money for a single aircraft....once.i would pay twice or three times the price of the current ones, if it would mean, that the devs could survive and continue to develop such detailed and realistic planes....but i would not even pay a subscription of only 1euro a month....i have enough bills to pay monthly, and they are all a pain in the ass. i hate that idea, and as much as i love the DCS products,....this is were i would stop to support them...
The_Pharoah Posted January 31, 2013 Posted January 31, 2013 same here...I personally HATE subscription gaming and absolutely refuse to do it. Thankfully my main gaming genres don't have it (yet). I don't play WoT or WoWP either. AMD AM4 Ryzen7 3700X 3.6ghz/MSI AM4 ATX MAG X570 Tomahawk DDR4/32GB DDR4 G.Skill 3600mhz/1TB 970 Evo SSD/ASUS RTX2070 8gb Super

Im not talking about changing how the current game works, after all Aces High also have free Head to Head options wich you can play, but if you want to enter the hosted/premium arena with 500+ players at a time, then you have to pay for it. Theres plenty of people wanting to pay money for a premium service, just look at AcesHigh, now 15 years later still having arenas with 500+ people in em, look at Warbirds 20 years later, it still has players playing it. When i started playing WB, the cost was 2 dollars an hour, and still people paid the money.
