darrentoogood991 Posted February 3, 2013 Posted February 3, 2013 I have a dual monitor setup and am using the excellent Helios. Both monitors currently run off 1 PC but for performance issues i would like to run the Helios on a laptop i have. I have a home network with both the PC and Laptop connected through a router. My question is how do i set DCS to export the gauges etc to the laptop across the network. I'm guessing i need to set up some IP parameteres somewhere. Probably the export LUA but i'm not sure what to add or change. I can't seem to find info regarding this. If anyone has the answer or a link to some info that would be great. Regards Darren
BRooDJeRo Posted February 4, 2013 Posted February 4, 2013 (edited) There isnt any 3rd party software for what you want, however theres an PAD app that can do this, but it needs an Apple OS or other tablet OS's from samsung. It might run on Linux, havent tried that one yet. Im kind of wondering why nobody realy looked at it to develop it, because youre not quite the only one. export over network to another windows machine should be possible too when you can do it with a crappy sales-platform-only-tablet. Sorin Posted February 4, 2013 Posted February 4, 2013 Helios does not use much resources. You can easily test by monitoring the frame rate in DCS with and without Helios active. I recommend tweaking and maybe upgrading the PC hardware instead of moving Helios on the laptop.
darrentoogood991 Posted February 4, 2013 Author Posted February 4, 2013 True i haven't tried testing the exact frame rate i'm loosing but with helios running it is def slower. Not sure it thats because i have to run DCS in windowed mode and for helios you have to run windows with aero active. Another reason is i also use FSX which doesn't like Aero etc. Now in FSX i can use panel builder on a seperate laptop. I have to keep messing about with swapping the 2nd monitor over as a extended monitor with DCS and a seperate monitor with FSX so it's more to do with standardising my setup rather than performance. I'm sure someone on a forum posted you can export the gauges from DCS over a network just can't found out how to do it. Be interesting to know how many are using helios as i think there will be a new version soon.
