Tentative time - Saturday 16 Feb 2013

Please sign up, let me know if you are A-10C capable and if so, what your preferred time and timezone are.

Syllabus: We will start off on the ground, cold-ramp-start and cover in-depth how the CDU works, we will program our own waypoints both on the ground, and make changes in flight, we will utilize advanced tactics with the TGP (Lightning targeting pod) and possibly practice deploying laser guided and GPS guided munitions on soft and hard targets.

I would like to operate in flights of up to 4 if possible, and as such I would like for volunteers to post or PM me. You will be leading and teaching your flight.

The live stream will be on as well for those who are completely unable to make the event.

We will utilize all of the formation flight skills from the last training event :pilotfly::pilotfly::pilotfly::pilotfly:

We will also cover TARS installation, set-up and use, with the goal being familiarization with proper radio communication, keeping appropriate comms inside each flight, and then utilizing FM-band VHF to talk between flights.

As always, thanks in advance for the interest and participation. If anyone has any questions please ask here so that others may see and learn from the answer.

Do you guys plan to stream this or make a video out of it? I did not participate in your formation training and while I have considerable experience with DCS and BMS, I am quite new to multiplayer so I am not sure if I would be able to keep formation with you.

Though, I would be interested to at least see the training.

It's like selective reading isn't it?

LOL, sorry, It's a consequence of being in a lab for 12 hours for 3 consecutive days.

Sing me up!

I would like a A-10C and I'm available the whole day.

Will it be a problem if I've never flown in formation?

Edit: I watched the stream this weekend when you flew formation and wonder why you stream in low quality?

Thanks for doing this!

Count me in! I've got DCS A-10 and I am currently in Belgium, hence GMT+1 timezone. I will be entirely free on Saturday 16th, and can generally stay up until 4-5 AM depending on what exactly we're going to be covering.

I would greatly benefit from participating in this training session, though, so I wish we can make the time convenient for everyone (US/EU)!

1PM Eastern. So far I have 12 guys asking which is good and means we can get more 1-on-1 for questions.

Acid (Acino - your new callsign in lieu of the lab and the misreading thing... lol) the only way to get better at form is to do it, so show up and ill work with you on that too if you need it.

Again thats 1PM EST (10PM PST/ 11MST/ 12CST/ 5PM Zulu for you squiggly types).

Please come with a basic familiarization of where all of the airfields are. If you can not remember them, please print a map or something so you dont have to alt-tab. Also, bring a pen and something to write on.

All A/C will be A-10C for this one.

We (I - ralfi will probably be snoozing) will be on around noon EST to help anyone who wants to learn to set up TARS as well. If everyone has it, we may utilize TARS. I recommend trying to set that up before the weekend rolls around. If I must assist (i.e. please put in the effort to install it yourself first) with the installation, email me and be prepared to be destroyed verbally. Just kidding. Sort of...

Payload will be Lightning II on station 2.

My current list of players: (all A10C, again...)

Thanks for this evening guys, I had a lot of fun!

And the formation flying I did when I was waiting to start descend was a big plus for me. :D

Regarding the name of the markpoint.

What I did was i pushed A for markpoint A and then the top left button next to the CDU screen. After that I typed in the name for the markpoint and then pushed the top right button on CDU screen. This will name the markpoint on HUD it will show A/[name] but on TAD it will still show the letter A.

Again thanks for this lovely evening, or I guess afternoon for you guys. :)
