Home Fries Posted February 23, 2013 Posted February 23, 2013 After experimenting with my existing 460 and a PCI 6200 I had lying around, I came to the conlcusion that in order to use my two auxiliary monitors for gauges and MFDs (not 3-screen surround), I would need another PCI-E card. I have just ordered a new 660 with the idea of using my existing 460 in the second PCI-E slot for the 2 gauge monitors. So here's the question: What is the best way to utilize both cards? I know that SLI is a non-starter with different cards, and I'm doing this for the extra monitors (I may go to 3-screen surround later along with the gauge monitors). Since DCS doesn't know how many monitors are in use (only a total resolution), does Windows intelligently delegate polygon-pushing to the individual cards doing the renders (i.e. would 3D-world be rendered on the 660 and the MFDs/gauges on the 460)? Or is it better to just go with SoftTH and let the 660 do all the work? Thanks in advance for the advice. -Home Fries My DCS Files and Skins My DCS TARGET Profile for Cougar or Warthog and MFDs F-14B LANTIRN Guide
Home Fries Posted February 23, 2013 Author Posted February 23, 2013 Thanks, Smil. I should have clarified my question from the OP. You can use both cards with SoftTH, but since SoftTH forces the main card (660) to do the processing for all displays, my question is whether this would be a good option since the 460 can still hold its own. -Home Fries My DCS Files and Skins My DCS TARGET Profile for Cougar or Warthog and MFDs F-14B LANTIRN Guide
