9.JG27 DavidRed Posted March 2, 2013 Posted March 2, 2013 hey guys.now im fully happy with my new hotas warthog. up until now, i just run dcs without the target software.but i think, that it could me serve quite well, so i installed it. what i recognized though is: first- there are stock profiles for DCS, but none for the A10...there is one for the blackshark and the F15c if i remember correctly.really strange that there isnt one for the a10 second-one really annoying thing is, that the target software automatically combines the two controllers, so that windows and all games only recognize both the throttle and the stick as one device.i know there are benefits with this, but for me personally, thats only a pain in the a... with both controllers combined, many buttons on my throttle are not longer recognized as directx buttons.so i have to give assign keyboard buttons to them.thats not only time consuming, but also means that i lose those keyboard buttons.... so my question is, is there a way, to run a target profile, but still have the controllers seperated as two devices???
Ebs Posted March 2, 2013 Posted March 2, 2013 Hey, brand new to Target myself but I'm pretty sure it's not possible to run the Warthog as two seperate devices when using the scripting. As far as DirectX, this limits it to 8 axes and 32 buttons...No way around it I think! The stick has 19 buttons alone...so assign those then use up the remaining 13 for the throttle. But after that you need some keyboard shortcuts. I'm in Vienna too btw :D Check out my guide to JSGME for DCS World.
Daniel Posted March 2, 2013 Posted March 2, 2013 Hello, when you write a profile you can tell which devices you wish program with TARGET. Let's say you don't want to add custom functions to the throttle, you can exclude it from the "Combined device" and it will still work as a DirectX device, while the stick is controlled by TARGET. For example, I use a Hotas Warthog and the MFD Pack. My profile replicates the default DirectX functions with the addition of some custom commands to both stick and throttle. The MFDs are non included because I want them to work as DirectX. 9.JG27 DavidRed Posted March 2, 2013 Author Posted March 2, 2013 hey Ebs, danke für die schnelle antwort! :) ok, if what you are saying is true, what i already feared, then this is the first disadvantage in comparison to my previous ch-setup.there it was no problem to have maps running but still have the devices seperated...for older games you could combine all the controls into one if you wanted to, but you were not forced to do so.
canadianbaken Posted April 13, 2013 Posted April 13, 2013 Hey guys new to the Hotas too and I love it. Just quick question that DavidRed asked kinda, if I load a different profile like the KA-50 how to I get the A-10 profile back I don't see a way to reload it cause it isn't in the file location. Is it just the default so if I restart my computer does the A-10 profile load

Is it just the default so if I restart my computer does the A-10 profile load How are you loading the profiles? Nothing loads by default into Target and Target does not start with Windows. canadianbaken Posted April 13, 2013 Posted April 13, 2013 I haven't loaded any new profiles, mainly cause I wasn't sure where to find the default A-10 one. That's what I wasn't sure about, the one that comes with it when you plug it in is it always going to be there and you have to load like the KA-50 when I want to fly the chopper? I just don't see anywhere to reload the original A-10 profile if I load a different one.
cichlidfan Posted April 13, 2013 Posted April 13, 2013 The Warthog is Plug-and-Play with the A-10. The 'profile' is built into the sim using the controllers default DX outputs. For any other aircraft you will have to either program the controllers in the sim's Options>Controls screens, for the appropriate aircraft and game mode, or use the Target software to create and then run a profile. Target is not involved if you wish to use the default A-10 setup. canadianbaken Posted April 13, 2013 Posted April 13, 2013 (edited) Thank you for your fast responses. But what I'm trying to find out is if I load a different profile using Target(say like the KA-50 profile that comes with the software) how do I get the default profile(A-10) back? Sorry if I'm not being clear. I just don't want to load a new profile and lose the one for A-10. Edited April 13, 2013 by canadianbaken
KillaALF Posted April 13, 2013 Posted April 13, 2013 Just shutting down Target will do the trick - once the program is closed, the HOTAS is back in default mode.
canadianbaken Posted April 13, 2013 Posted April 13, 2013 Thanks KillaALF that's what needed to know. Just didn't want to mess anything up.
