4c Hajduk Veljko Posted December 7, 2005 Posted December 7, 2005 I am trying to build a simple mission for Su-27 with GCI support. How do I do that? What radar’s should I use, how do I make them active to communicate with Su-27? Thanks. 4c Hajduk Veljko Posted December 7, 2005 Author Posted December 7, 2005 2. One of the two EWR radars. Thanks GGTharos. I tried both 1L13 and 55G6 and was not able to make them to work? How do you turn them on? How do you tell them to work? GGTharos Posted December 7, 2005 Posted December 7, 2005 No, you don't have to do anything except turn on your radar or EOS (liek for the AWACS) once, then you can turn it off. They must be able to also see your targets though, and they are limited by the radar horizon (the farther away a target is, the higher it can fly undetected) and intervening terrain. Their detection range is also limited by target RCS, but they should be fairly powerful anyway compared to fighter radars. Ironhand Posted December 7, 2005 Posted December 7, 2005 1. A-50 2. One of the two EWR radars. Nope. Whenever I've tried neither EWR either volunteers contact info or responds when querried. 4c Hajduk Veljko Posted December 7, 2005 Author Posted December 7, 2005 I tried that and was not able to make them work. I never was able to see them radiating at all. My bereyoza was not picking them eitherl? And I am flying close to them as well. I thought there is a button or something to push to make them work. I will keep trying. Ironhand Posted December 7, 2005 Posted December 7, 2005 I was not able to establish the data-link either? Here. Try this mission: GCI . Turn on your radar and extend the range with the "-" key. You will see the a/c. Turn your radar off. The a/c will remain on the MFD. EDIT: Actually, you don't even have to turn on your radar. Start the mission. Select BVR. And set the MFD range to 250. Wait about 5-10 seconds and the contact will appear once the EWR has made it's sweep. 4c Hajduk Veljko Posted December 7, 2005 Author Posted December 7, 2005 It is working! The first time I set up a mission, the EWR did not see a pair of F-15's because they were behind the mountains! it appeaers the EWR/GCI established data link can help a lot with SA and approximate target range and velocity vector. Data-link does not provide target altitude and speed. It still helps a lot so that SARH can be deployed in HOJ more succesfully. This is important in on line games because often an on-line pilot flys alone and fights against two or three well trained pilots from the same virtual squad.
