Today it was not for the simulation itself but rather for the quality of the code in as far as graphics go.

I have been using Nvidia Inspector (1.9.7) for a month or so, used it primarily to try to get the most out of X-Plane10, then FSX Gold, and I also searched the forums around here for suggestions.

Although I had tried some of the suggested profiles, today I decided to be radical and erased my DCS.EXE profile.

Used ** only ** the ingame OPTIONS screen, plus the FPS limited to 30 at graphics.cfg and got the best and most stable FPS and display quality I ever got.

Tested with the A10c Sierra Sunset mission (30 fps) and with the P51d takeoof from Batumi (same level)!

Ah! And it is a bad idea to use the default profile that comes with your Nvidia drivers... rather out of syns with what DCS World is now...

Well, my conclusion is - at least in 1.2.3 the code is so well written and optimized that I really do not need NI in between anymore :-)

My system, i5 2500 @3,3GHz, 16 GB DDR3 RAM, Win 7 Home Premium 64 bit, Nividia GTX 650 Ti 1GB DDR5. Nvidia drivers 314.07 WHQL.

I've always wondered about Nvidia's driver presets for DCS, because only Black Shark is listed. The A10C has been standalone for quite some time, however never got its own preset.

But you made me curious about what settings should be changed to what is known now in the black Shark profile? I'm not looking for any 3rd party or additional software to install for settings, but i'd realy like to know what should be an official preset assuming there is one.

What are the criteria to make a change or a new preset that comes along with a Nvidia driver? Does a developer need to contact Nvidia, is there an unexpected email/phonecall or does the game need to be top box-office?

I just upgraded to a new system and have been able to put all in game settings to highest levels with no frame rate drop anywhere so far. This is with default Nvidia settings so far as well.

The look of the sim especially at early nightfall is simply stunning and flying at top settings at high frames rates down low or high just looks amazing. When DCS can run at its best it really looks fantastic!!

I haven't begun to think of having to tweak the card settings for better looks or performance as yet as I haven't seen a need. I'm still drooling over whats there now.

The only tweak I made in the Nvidia software is 'single display performance mode' instead of 'multidisplay', because there is only one display. I haven't benchmarked anything, although assume it might matter slightly, possibly not by autodetect features. I don't have the exact detailed knowledge regarding this hardware, capability's and options.

Sofar everything seems to be running fine apart from the 'known' stuffzorz on the map and avoid the very high detailed shadowing.

All HDR settings makes things very blurry, or it's my eyes are having a hard time processing the full context of information being send through photons, so HDR is off for me.

This is what i use to keep performance up, have sharp details and good gameplay with the GTX460.
