I raised a Support Ticket on this issue and had an interesting reply today. They acknowledge there is a problem with AI behaviour and confirm t will be fixed at some point in the future, but he couldn't say when.

 

Apparently when an attack order is given to the AI Wingman it removes his Datalink point, this then makes them only see the target using their Mk 1 Eyeball.

 

I only hope ED will see this is a fairly significant problem for us Single Player simmers and move it up their to-do list. The frustrating thing is at one point this was working perfectly, but seems to have been broken during one of the past updates.

I thought I would come back to my original thread and main gripe with Blackshark 2..... the useless wingmen when attacking Datalink targets.

 

Well after installing the 1.2.4.11855 patch I have had practically 100 per cent success rate in getting my wingman to attack Datalink targets. He is also not charging in on top of the target before attempting to engage, also that ridiculous 'dance' he would perform after giving the 'attack Datalink target' command has also gone.

 

Although I don't remember seeing anything specific about this problem in the 1.2.4 Patch fix list, some work has definitely been done to correct the wingman attack problems of the past. So far for me at least its now back to how it was a few patches ago - thanks ED :thumbup:

Actually Monkey AI is the worst bug in BS. no tactic available, only rambo style.

Thanks a lot to Nate for testing and reporting and whoever at ED who fixed this. I can now look forward to flying campaigns as soon as I get my KomodoSim pedals!

 

To Nate; please keep up the good work and recommend some of our active Shark pilots to be testers.
