Cowboy10uk Posted April 22, 2013 Posted April 22, 2013 Hi guys, as some of you may be aware from previous posts, I've been having a few issues with my FPS, I've managed to now get DCS running at a constant 30FPS which is great, considering I'm running at a High resolution, however when I run Helios I'm dropping back down to 22 - 23 FPS. Im aware that Helios does suffer a FPS hit, if Aero is not on. Despite not having the disable aero interface checked, I have noticed that windows seems to turn Aero off automaticly when I start DCS World. So I'm pretty sure this is where the problem lies. I have gone into my control panel, system, advanced settings and made sure Aero is selected to always display best appearance, but windows still appears to turn off aero when I start DCS, then it turns it on again when I exit. Has anyone found anyway to disable this automatic switch off, so I can keep aero running at all times. If not, does anyone know what I can do to prevent it, does it need me to increase my mem or graphics card for example. JG14_Smil Posted April 22, 2013 Posted April 22, 2013 (edited) Sounds like you do not have an Aero theme selected. Forget all those other options for now and just make sure you are indeed using Aero desktop theme. Right Click desktop, Personalize, then choose the theme. Edited April 22, 2013 by JG14_Smil

Forget all those other options and just make sure you are indeed using Aero desktop theme. Right Click desktop, Personalize, then choose the theme. Sorry, but yes I can confirm I have an Aero theme selected. the bar is also transparent which of course shows that the pc is Running Aero. But whenever I start DCS, Windows says its switching to basic, and the bar goes solid. :( Cowboy10uk [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Fighter pilots make movies, Attack pilots make history, Helicopter pilots make heros. :pilotfly: Corsair 570x Crystal Case, Intel 8700K O/clocked to 4.8ghz, 32GB Vengeance RGB Pro DDR4 3200 MHZ Ram, 2 x 1TB M2 drives, 2 x 4TB Hard Drives, Nvidia EVGA GTX 1080ti FTW, Maximus x Hero MB, H150i Cooler, 6 x Corsair LL120 RGB Fans And a bloody awful Pilot
JG14_Smil Posted April 22, 2013 Posted April 22, 2013 (edited) OK. Great feedback. I've ran at your BS profile. You cannot add BS as an Interface as it is already added, so no worries there. You need to go to Helios\ View menu "Profile Explorer", then double click BS to add the Interface tab (this is the right side window in Helios). You will then see the Setup Blackshark button. Once it says it is up to date, ignore any other warning messages about not finding BS. I get that message each time I open the Profile editor and BS works just fine. You may have to add the intellivibe line after you setup BS in Helios. Make sure it is added to both the saved games/scripts and program files\yada yada\config\export folders. Can you load your SoftTH config file with the softTHconfig tool and verify that it says "Keep aero on" and please verify that it is loading and saving to the bin folder. The config tool defaults to somewhere else, so it is important to make sure path is correct. No idea how to deal with the two different port numbers. I only fly BS. Edited April 22, 2013 by JG14_Smil

Sure this isnt for the Intellvibe post mate, :) ive not but a profile on here but I think Tom has on the one. However This part of the post has got me thinking, as i do have softTH also installed. I wonder if this is incorrectly set. :) Thanks something to check when i finish work. JG14_Smil Posted April 22, 2013 Posted April 22, 2013 :) who am I helping? My answer should help with both issues of Helios FPS and no BS interface.

My answer should help with both issues of Helios FPS and no BS interface. well its certainly giving me another idea to look at, which to be fair I hadnt even considered, and lets be honest, i wil be using a combined LUA with the intellivibe as well. so will be following the posts there closely. Gadroc Posted April 22, 2013 Posted April 22, 2013 SoftTH by default turns off Aero. There is an option in it's config file to not disable it. I'm at work right now and don't have access to my config files to give you the setting to turn on.

Thanks Gadroc, that will explain it then. :) no probs about being at work, so am I. :) you may be working harder than me though. Cowboy10uk Edit: did a google search, and found the setting. Yes, by default SoftTH disables Aero to increase performance. If you absolutely need to leave Aero enabled, change the following line in your SoftTH config file; [main] keepComposition=1 Fingers crossed this works. :) thanks Gadroc, for confirming the possible issue and of course JG14 for directing me to it in the first place.
