Yellonet Posted December 16, 2005 Posted December 16, 2005 I think it would be limited online - most players will see and expect the launch, once they see the missile trail with no launch warning, they will pop flares and throttle back & your et is wasted and you are likely dead. Its great for following on a radar shot though, since the target often will not be head on and will be less likely to see the trail.Yes, it is quite likely very limited. But in the scenario in the track it is an advantage, at 2000 m alt the AIM-120 is pretty crappy and is pretty easy to avoid when launched from the same range as I launched the ET. i7-2600k@4GHz, 8GB, R9 280X 3GB, SSD, HOTAS WH, Pro Flight Combat Pedals, TIR5
sunwolf Posted December 17, 2005 Posted December 17, 2005 Radar and EOS may turn on together, but you only use one mode to lock on target at same time. In some case if radar lost lock on a beaming target,EOS may continue lock on,but the flying R-27R/ER will lost guide. If you lock on target by radar and fire a R-27R/ER,then switch to EOS lockon, the flying R-27R/ER will lost guide too. R-27s are middle-range missile,so you are able to fire R-27T/ET by radar lockon.when R-27T/ET fly to target enough close, its IR seeker can catch target, you may exit lock. == Welcome to 3GO Cyber Air Force == http://bbs.3gofly.com/en
sunwolf Posted December 17, 2005 Posted December 17, 2005 at left of HUD: N - radar main channel T - EOS main channel A - attack target(STT mode) C - the locking target is friendly unit. == Welcome to 3GO Cyber Air Force == http://bbs.3gofly.com/en

The T/ET's can not be guided by radar. i7-2600k@4GHz, 8GB, R9 280X 3GB, SSD, HOTAS WH, Pro Flight Combat Pedals, TIR5
Prophet_169th Posted December 17, 2005 Posted December 17, 2005 Could it possibly use data-link until IR seeker acquires target?
GGTharos Posted December 17, 2005 Posted December 17, 2005 No, it couldn't. It did in 1.0x, but that capability was removed because the real missile doesn't have it. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Reminder: SAM = Speed Bump :D I used to play flight sims like you, but then I took a slammer to the knee - Yoda
