AliasVBA1 Posted May 3, 2013 Posted May 3, 2013 Every time I enter into the 3d world in dcs I can hear a buzzing sound from my graphics card fan. When I exit back to the GUI it stops. Any other game I play it does not happen fsx bf3 Ac3 far cry 3 . Only in DCS. Any ideas guys and gals on how to solve this?
Lange_666 Posted May 4, 2013 Posted May 4, 2013 It's normal when your card comes under load that the fan rpm goes up because of the extra heat generated by the GPU. Have a GTX480 and mine does that too. GPU temps on mine go up to around 85°c when under load and with the fan at max. r3m Posted May 4, 2013 Posted May 4, 2013 Any other game I play it does not happen fsx bf3 Ac3 far cry 3 . Only in DCS. Rather strange considering some of the games you mentioned, particularly Battlefield 3 and Far Cry 3 can be just as, if not more demanding on a GPU than DCS. I would say download MSI Afterburner and monitor your temps and fan speeds during gameplay. Then once you know the fan RPM you're reaching in DCS adjust it in afterburner manually to a speed that effectively reduces the load temps to a level you're comfortable with, and also eliminates the apparently abnormal buzzing sound you're hearing. AliasVBA1 Posted May 5, 2013 Author Posted May 5, 2013 Well I spoke with the tech support guys at evga. They said it could also be the power coil I'm hearing. But they are very stumped that its only DCS that's causing this noise. And even more so that I have a 600watt psu that more than enough for the card. Any other ideas anyone?
