Autoupdater missing files

I cant update, because of missing files in TEMP, anybody knows what to do about this?

Try disabling the antivirus.

Hi, thanks but i dont have AV.

 

Maybe i can just download the update. I just dont want to loose my controllerconfig and 3-monitor config.

Some food for thought:

 

1) DCS_updater.exe downloads necessary files to the temp dir.

2) DCS_update_apply.exe is started with admin privileges to apply the update

and the first thing it does - it checks if all needed files are in the temp dir.

And here's the problem you describe: some file(s) are missing.

Sometimes this happens when an overly paranoid AV puts the file into the quarantine.

 

I'm thinking on a workaround for this problem.

I have downloaded the files from the website, do you know if i can just run the installer, or would that delete my settings.

 

I dont mind doing a new installation, if i can easily backup controls and monitors.

If you prefer, you can simply make a backup of your SavedGames folder.

I am getting a similar error, repeatedly. I also have my AV turned off when I start the download: It is always missing 5a. There are other directories in the Temp dir.

This also happened on the update from 1.2.3 to 1.2.4. In that case I uninstalled, then reinstalled.

The bug has just been found and the fix will be release in a day or two.

Could you confirm that if one did not have this error, then the update/sim is OK?

 

I'm concerned because I'm going at a LAN party tomorrow with 20+ squad mates, and we won't have high speed internet, only mobile access... if someone's sim is broken, that could be though on him.

[edit] disregard, just saw your post saying it's when updating from 1.2.1

The updater does every validity check it can possibly do before applying,

so if it got to the actual updating stage, you're safe.

 

(unless some virus or an antivirus messes with the files right in the middle of the update - but that's beyond my control).

Please, try to update again.

 

 

NOTE: in some cases the error is cause by AV software putting downloaded files into quarantine.

In this case, temporarily disable the antivirus, or add DCS_updater.exe and DCS_update_apply.exe to the trusted list and retry the update.

I have attempted to reupdate and have gotten the same error (folder 5a). I have tried as-is and after deleting the Temp/DCS folder to force a redownload of the files. AV is off. Please let me know if there is any more information I can provide.

Is there any update to this issue? I'm having this problem when trying to install the BS2 upgrade.

I've tried running the installer without AV on, and also with .../Temp/DCS exceptions in my AV.

Still can't figure out how to get it to work.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

2 external things may cause the issue:

1) Antivirus software - try disabling it.

2) on Win8 the file C:\Users\<LOGIN>\Saved Games\DCS\autoupdate.cache may be marked Read-Only, in this case, either remove this option from the file, or just try to Repair DCS World before updating/installing modules.

C:\Users\<YOU>\Saved Games\DCS\Logs\autoupdate.log file taken right after the installation error would be of much help.

In some cases the problem is caused by write-protected autoupdate.cache file.

Deleting this file should help.

 

Next DCS patch will notify if it has any problems with the cache file.
