F-15 external fuel tank bugs

I found a couple of bugs here.

First, external fuel tanks get jettisoned when you select jettison weapons.

Second, when the external fuel tanks get jettisoned, the plane's fuel load doesn't change. It's like the tanks are still there.

Thx.

Well on the first 'issue' this has always been the case, and I believe it is by design. There probably isn't a real scenario where one would want to dump weapons and keep tanks. Also you may notice if you ever have 3 tanks attached that the weapon jettison will drop the outer tanks at first press yet retain the center unless you do a second press. I think the actual tank jettison command immediately drops all tanks. Now the drop tank logic is broken in general anyway in that all tanks empty simultaneously removing the benefit of being able to retain the center tank.

On the second issue I'm sure the fuel load actually does change as long as you're capacity is above 13400 lbs. Below that number your tanks are actually empty and you're running of the internal capacity.

ok. I think the problem is with how the fuel amount is displayed. In my screenshot, it shows that I am carrying 13,400 lbs of fuel. And it also shows that I am carrying 6,700 lbs each in my left and right fuel tanks which, of course, adds up to 13,400 lbs. In this mission, I actually have no external fuel tanks so I would think that the left and right fuel tanks should each show 0 lbs .

In the real airplane, those gauges also show LEFT/RIGHT internal wing. It depends on what has been selected by the fuel selector knob. So, for this game, those totals are for the LEFT/RIGHT wing not external. For FYI, each external tank is 600gal or about 3,600lbs. So total fuel for the F-15C/D is about 24,300lbs. The F-15E is 32,000lbs.

Also, the only way an F-15C can jet it's weapons is if it jets the pylons.

The FC3 manual says the left and right numbers are "the amount of remaining fuel in the left and right external fuel tanks". Not to say it's right. That's just what it says.

If the left and right numbers refer to internal wing tanks it also doesn't totally make sense because the 2 numbers shouldn't equal the total internal fuel which they do. This is because there supposedly is also internal fuel in the centre fuselage. But maybe the F-15 in FC3 isn't modelled with internal centre fuselage tanks. In this case, the numbers make sense.

Well the manual is filled with inaccuracies and typos, and unless they've changed it since its gone gold, its mostly the FC2 manual with some of the FC3 things pasted in. I do commend you for being a new player that will actually RTFM. There is no center internal fuel storage, just left and right wing internal fuel. The display will show this plus whats in external tanks if present. What annoys me most as I've pointed out before, is that while they are 5 separate tanks (full load) they operate as just 2 separate tanks. I suppose this is the best they can do, without providing a way for the user to control where fuel is being fed from (clickable cockpit). Ideally they should at least change the fuel flow and jettison logic, that either drains the wing drop tanks first or the center and make that one jettison first.
