special_k Posted May 15, 2013 Posted May 15, 2013 So im going to get the UH-1H (My first DCS aircraft) and I wanted to know how well does it work with facetrack? IMO I find it essential to look around freely whilst flying a chopper and pressing buttons to do so is not ideal. Track ir is going to get me bankrupt so i wont go down that path. Facetrack is the #1 option for me and would like some opinions on it? Some pros and cons could be cool. Thnx in advance!

Facetrack is the #1 option for me and would like some opinions on it? Some pros and cons could be cool. Thnx in advance! First of all: Welcome to this wonderfull forum! I use FacetracknoIR 1.7 beta. The new accela filter is really good compared to the old one. Some tips: - Think about proper light in your room and possibly some contrast/brightness adjustments to your camera to make your face clearly visible against the background. - Place your webcam below your screen and not too far away. - Use shortkey's to turn the tracker off and on and to recenter the view. You will need it. - Use faceapi from seeingmachines (free download, but need to register) for tracking - Set a deadzone for forward view and set the curves in such a way that they are less sensitive around the center. - If your view is too wobbly to click a button, use RAlt + numpad arrows. If you've set facetrack up right you won't have to do this very often. You can use my current settings to start with. Good luck!DCS_FTnoIR_settings.rar 'Frett'
impostor71 Posted May 16, 2013 Posted May 16, 2013 Currently, I have the default FaceTrackNoIR and it sucks. It recognize my face but it thinks that I'm facing one way or another even though I'm facing square at the camera. Speaking of camera, I'm using the PS3Eye. I'm going to give your suggestions a try, TurboHog, to see if it's going to improve. I'm thinking of building an IR-point model and use PointTracker.
