pitdesigner Posted May 24, 2013 Posted May 24, 2013 When it comes to lua editing, im still a little lost in the sauce... ive been fiddling with it for a couple weeks and have only gotten the on/off switches to sync, not the 3 way or rotary switches.
mr_mojo97 Posted May 24, 2013 Posted May 24, 2013 I take you have made a profile in Helios editor? The scripting is all done automatically through that. Just launch the Helios control panel before opening the sim. That's it MSI M5 z270 | Intel i5 7600k (OC) 4.8GHz | MSI GTX1080ti Gaming X 11Gb | 500gb Samsung 970 Evo NVME M.2 (DCS World) | 500gb Samsung 850 Evo SSD (OS and Apps) | 32Gb 2400MHz DDR4 - Crucial Ballistix | Be Quiet Silent Loop 240mm | NZXT H440 case | Thrustmaster Warthog - 47608 with Virpil Mongoose joystick base | MFG Crosswinds - 1241 | Westland Lynx collective with Bodnar X board | Pilot's seat from ZH832 Merlin | JetSeat | Oculus Rift S | Windows 10 | VA |
pitdesigner Posted May 24, 2013 Author Posted May 24, 2013 Ive got that, i should have looked at my question before posting it, what i am looking for is a way to have my physical switches set to on or off and be able to start a mission and the sim "reads" which switches are on or off and syncs the cockpit to my panels. I hope this makes sense this time :) So it acts like the menu option "sync hotas controls at mission start"
mr_mojo97 Posted May 24, 2013 Posted May 24, 2013 Same answer mate, it should do it automatically as long as you load a profile from Helios. You should prob also set the same switches in the game options menu too. Although I did find that there was a conflict with some of mine when I binded (bound?) them in the game options menu - especially SAS and anti collision lights MSI M5 z270 | Intel i5 7600k (OC) 4.8GHz | MSI GTX1080ti Gaming X 11Gb | 500gb Samsung 970 Evo NVME M.2 (DCS World) | 500gb Samsung 850 Evo SSD (OS and Apps) | 32Gb 2400MHz DDR4 - Crucial Ballistix | Be Quiet Silent Loop 240mm | NZXT H440 case | Thrustmaster Warthog - 47608 with Virpil Mongoose joystick base | MFG Crosswinds - 1241 | Westland Lynx collective with Bodnar X board | Pilot's seat from ZH832 Merlin | JetSeat | Oculus Rift S | Windows 10 | VA |
mr_mojo97 Posted May 24, 2013 Posted May 24, 2013 And the rotaries should act the same. What joystick boards do you use? I know some don't accept rotary encoders MSI M5 z270 | Intel i5 7600k (OC) 4.8GHz | MSI GTX1080ti Gaming X 11Gb | 500gb Samsung 970 Evo NVME M.2 (DCS World) | 500gb Samsung 850 Evo SSD (OS and Apps) | 32Gb 2400MHz DDR4 - Crucial Ballistix | Be Quiet Silent Loop 240mm | NZXT H440 case | Thrustmaster Warthog - 47608 with Virpil Mongoose joystick base | MFG Crosswinds - 1241 | Westland Lynx collective with Bodnar X board | Pilot's seat from ZH832 Merlin | JetSeat | Oculus Rift S | Windows 10 | VA |
Gadroc Posted May 24, 2013 Posted May 24, 2013 Helios does not "sync" physical switches. That is tremendously more complicated than one would think, unless you dictate exactly how to hook up each switch there are a lot of "unknowns". It way be simple in your use case, but across any profile that people come up with it is very very hard. In reality it doesn't help that much except for cold starts and would actually prevent doing missions without cold starts, as in general you're aircraft would have all kinds of systems just switch on/off as soon as your mission started. You'd end up having to physically sync switches before starting the mission anyways. If you enjoy cold starts I would assume you enjoy the immersion of parking and shutting down the ugly duckling as well!
JG14_Smil Posted May 24, 2013 Posted May 24, 2013 Some switches will sync. Turn on some switches in your cockpit without Helios running. Open your profile in the Profile Editor and look at an interface tab that shows buttons. All are off when Helios loads. Turn on one more switch and watch as all the other switches you had turned on all light up. All the buttons that lit up would sync the switch they are bound to. When you load your profile in the Control Panel before flight it is the same way. The first switch or button you turn on 'wakes up' the Helios/Interface connection and all switches that are on will send a signal to their binding. Like Gadroc said (and I love the Ugly Duckling line :) ), I'm all into the startup and shutdown. I even run a macro that turns every single switch in the Blackshark to off or the middle position to match my cockpit switches that are all off or in the middle position before each flight. The downside to what you want is your helo or plane can fall out of the sky if it did sync up a cold start cockpit with a hot, in flight start.
Rahband Posted May 24, 2013 Posted May 24, 2013 (edited) There is a setting in options to syn your switches with those in game but if this works for Helios only I'm not sure. I did a cold start mission then without shutting down did a quick mission with the synch button on and the plane almost fell out off the sky (everything turned off) then tried with the synch switch off and it flew fine all systems on . slightly confuse Edited May 24, 2013 by Rahband
Duckling Posted May 24, 2013 Posted May 24, 2013 ...shutting down the ugly duckling .. ... sounds a bit a scary, better watch my back from here on ... :megalol: - - - -
pitdesigner Posted May 24, 2013 Author Posted May 24, 2013 Ok, thanks all, ill stick with the preflight check of all my switches :) and yes, I love the ugly duckling ;)
