Sacrificer Posted June 4, 2013 Posted June 4, 2013 (edited) --- SOLVED --- Hello! For those of you who have an issue similar or exactly the same as mine, the fix is quite simple! If the application hangs on the splash and you have a keyboard input method, it is likely that changing your default input method to English and then re-launching the game will fix this problem! Hopefully this information can help someone! ~Sacrificer~ ------------------------------------------------ Notes: 64-bit Windows 7. The game worked before adding DCS A-10C. I have the Steam version of DCS A-10C. I have re-installed the game. The UI works (Before attempting to load the game/multiplayer, etc.) I can not load in to the multiplayer menu, but could before. Detailed problem: I installed the DCS world, loaded in to the multiplayer and joined a server to see if it worked. It did. I then exited to the main UI menu and installed DCS A-10C. The game then exited, did a 330~ Megabyte update. It then brought up a loading box. That froze and just sat there not responding. I closed it and re launched the UI. I then clicked Multiplayer in hopes that it would not have the issue again (As all this is my second install of DCS world and this happened before as well.) It did, the UI exited, the splash screen came up to indicate it was attempting to load the multiplayer, and then it just froze there. Not responding. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Log file(Logs\dcs.txt): 00000.000 INFO EDCORE: createSerialQueue IOQueue 00000.081 INFO VFS: Using 'Saved Games': "C:\Users\Admin\Saved Games" 00000.082 INFO DCS: DCS/1.2.4.12913 (x86_64; Windows/6.1.7601) 00000.100 INFO Dispatcher: 2013/6/4 12:44 V1305221100 00000.131 INFO NET: events.lua loaded 00000.134 WARNING LOG: 1 duplicate message(s) skipped. 00000.134 INFO NET: loading ./Scripts/net/default.cfg : OK 00000.134 INFO NET: loading C:\Users\Admin\Saved Games\DCS\Config/network.cfg : OK 00000.134 INFO NET: loading ./Scripts/net/net_types.lua : OK 00000.134 INFO NET: default_conn is 3 00000.176 INFO SOUND: loaded 512 sdefs from "sounds\sdef" 00000.178 INFO SOUND: XAudio2: Using device ID:'{0.0.0.00000000}.{19bd6d1f-19d3-4b0c-ac09-6c51d78dd05b}' Name:'Speakers (Realtek High Definition Audio)', channels: 2 00000.179 INFO SOUND: XAudio2: channel layout: Headphones/Stereo 00000.193 INFO SOUND: Using SSE FTZ mode. 00000.197 INFO WorldPlugIns: Loaded plugin module CockpitBase.dll 00000.331 UNKNOWN WinMain: MOD loading: ./mods/aircrafts/A-10C/entry.lua 00000.331 UNKNOWN WinMain: MOD loading: ./mods/aircrafts/FW-190D9/entry.lua 00000.331 ERROR EDCORE: can't open MO-file C:\Program Files\Eagle Dynamics\DCS World\mods\aircrafts\FW-190D9\l10n\en\LC_MESSAGES\messages.mo 00000.333 UNKNOWN WinMain: MOD loading: ./mods/aircrafts/FW-190D9/FW-190D9.lua 00000.333 UNKNOWN WinMain: MOD loading: ./mods/aircrafts/Su-25T/entry.lua 00000.333 UNKNOWN WinMain: MOD loading: ./DemoMods/tech/CombinedArms/entry.lua 00000.333 ERROR EDCORE: can't open MO-file C:\Program Files\Eagle Dynamics\DCS World\DemoMods\tech\CombinedArms\l10n\en\LC_MESSAGES\messages.mo 00000.333 UNKNOWN WinMain: MOD loading: ./DemoMods/aircrafts/A-10C/entry.lua 00000.333 UNKNOWN WinMain: MOD loading: ./DemoMods/aircrafts/Flaming Cliffs/entry.lua 00000.334 ERROR EDCORE: can't open MO-file C:\Program Files\Eagle Dynamics\DCS World\DemoMods\aircrafts\Flaming Cliffs\l10n\en\LC_MESSAGES\messages.mo 00000.334 UNKNOWN WinMain: MOD loading: ./DemoMods/aircrafts/Ka-50/entry.lua 00000.334 ERROR EDCORE: can't open MO-file C:\Program Files\Eagle Dynamics\DCS World\DemoMods\aircrafts\Ka-50\l10n\en\LC_MESSAGES\messages.mo 00000.334 UNKNOWN WinMain: MOD loading: ./DemoMods/aircrafts/P-51D/entry.lua 00000.334 ERROR EDCORE: can't open MO-file C:\Program Files\Eagle Dynamics\DCS World\DemoMods\aircrafts\P-51D\l10n\en\LC_MESSAGES\messages.mo 00000.334 UNKNOWN WinMain: MOD loading: ./DemoMods/aircrafts/Uh-1H/entry.lua 00000.334 ERROR EDCORE: can't open MO-file C:\Program Files\Eagle Dynamics\DCS World\DemoMods\aircrafts\Uh-1H\l10n\en\LC_MESSAGES\messages.mo 00000.334 UNKNOWN WinMain: PLUGINS START------------------------------------------------- 00000.334 UNKNOWN WinMain: plugin: A-10C Warthog by Eagle Dynamics applied 00000.334 UNKNOWN WinMain: plugin: FW-190D9 by Eagle Dynamics applied 00000.334 UNKNOWN WinMain: plugin: Su-25T by Eagle Dynamics applied 00000.334 UNKNOWN WinMain: plugin: Combined Arms by Eagle Dynamics applied 00000.334 UNKNOWN WinMain: plugin: Flaming Cliffs by Eagle Dynamics applied 00000.334 UNKNOWN WinMain: plugin: Ka-50 Black Shark by Eagle Dynamics applied 00000.334 UNKNOWN WinMain: plugin: P-51D Mustang by Eagle Dynamics applied 00000.334 UNKNOWN WinMain: plugin: UH-1H Huey by Belsimtek applied 00000.334 UNKNOWN WinMain: PLUGINS DONE-------------------------------------------------- 00000.344 UNKNOWN WinMain: ./MissionEditor/data/scripts/unitsclasses.lua loaded 00000.346 UNKNOWN WinMain: ./MissionEditor/data/NewMap/classifier.lua loaded EXTRA DETAILS: I went through a large amount of trouble to get my post here, and it took a long time, initially this was a support ticket, but it erased my whole message. Then the forum took 20 minutes to send my activation email. So, what I am currently attempting is downloading the module for the A-10C from the DCS website. As one of the users in another topic provided a link to it. Until that is finished though, I am unsure if it will work or not, so I am posting here. My apologies. There is about 20 minutes left on the download. Hopefully someone can help me with this. Edited June 11, 2013 by Sacrificer
Sacrificer Posted June 4, 2013 Author Posted June 4, 2013 So after installing the A-10C module (The latest one.) It does it again. I have tried every variation of re installing the module in different orders along with the game, etc. It seems to only work without the A-10C module. I checked where the log file is pointing to for those MO files and they do not exist. Neither does the folder of which they should be contained in. I then searched around more at possible other solutions other people with similar but not exact issues have had. Tried all of the fixes and none of them work. One of them was re installing every single version of Visual C++ from 2005 to 2010 SP1. More information for you: Windows 7 Professional 64-bit. 16GB Kingston 1600MHz RAM. GTX 260 1GB GPU DX9 and DX10. (No DX11.) Intel i7 3550k 3.4GHz quad core. --- Could it be that the reason the A-10C module is causing the splash screen to freeze and stop responding because I have the Steam version installed on my PC? I'm unsure of how DCS world is grabbing the files, but could that be a possibility? After this post, I am going to go un install DCS world and the module again, delete my Saved Games\DCS folder once again, re-name my Steam install of the game. Re-install DCS World, launch it, get in the game. Exit it, install the module with the installer from their site. Then launch the game again and test it. My guess? It's going to fail terribly. Please, I really need some assistance on this. =/ Thanks in advance! - Sacrificer.
Sacrificer Posted June 4, 2013 Author Posted June 4, 2013 After doing all of that, it still does the same thing. Freezes on the splash screen not responding until I click it and then it gives me the not responding dialogue and asks me to close it.
ED Team c0ff Posted June 5, 2013 ED Team Posted June 5, 2013 Try disabling the 'Fullscreen' mode. Most probably the A-10C module shows an activation dialog, but fullscreen mode prevents it from appearing on the screen. Dmitry S. Sacrificer Posted June 5, 2013 Author Posted June 5, 2013 Unfortunately I have attempted disabling full-screen, it did nothing. I'm freezing only on the splash screen, so there is no activation. Picture of the splash screen that hovers on the desktop: http://i.imgur.com/6dKGWft.png After I click it (Because it's not responding and it just sits there.): http://puu.sh/38HSt.jpg Also, in the modules section, my A-10C has a key next to it. I think it's already activated, but am unsure. I think the first time I did it (On the first install of DCS world) it did some sort of activation. (Note: This was in the modules menu, I still couldn't get to the actual game at that point, either.) I would really like to get this working, as I want to purchase the UH-1H Huey beta and try it out. I appreciate the help, - Sacrificer.

Sacrificer Posted June 5, 2013 Author Posted June 5, 2013 (edited) Like I said, I think it's already activated. Here's what it said when I held shift when launching multiplayer: http://i.imgur.com/9LUEoVJ.png I'm sorry to say, but to be completely honest I am really disappointed with that reply. I really hope you or someone else will be able to help me with this in the end, as I would like to be able to get past the splash screen. Please. I have not played DCS in a while, and I never thought it would be this difficult to come back to playing it. I don't have to waste an activation to deactivate it and re activate it, do I? Could that be a possible fix? Maybe I'll try that after this post. Not sure, though. All I know is, I'm getting really sick of the splash screen and getting quite upset. EDIT: Alright. So I've re-activated the game. Still stuck on the splash screen. But there is some new, hopefully helpful information within the log file. ED Team USSR_Rik Posted June 6, 2013 ED Team Posted June 6, 2013 Uninstall DCS World and reinstall it into the another folder (not in Program Files) - for example, D:\ (it shouldn't take activation). If no success, we will try to clean registry. If you have antivirus and/or similar software (Securuty center etc.) - please disable it or add the whole 'DSC World' folder into Trusted Zone. Sacrificer Posted June 6, 2013 Author Posted June 6, 2013 (edited) Thanks for the reply! I am currently installing the game to C:\Users\Admin\Documents\DCS (I have previously tried installing it to a separate Program Files folder, so this gives me some hope.) I do not yet have any antivirus and/or similar software as this is a fresh-ish install of Windows 7 and my firewall is completely disabled currently. If the re install does not work, I will edit below and I will be happy to get your assistance in seeking down any registry issue that may be preventing a proper launch. :P EDIT: I have re installed the game to C:\Users\Admin\Documents\DCS. Unfortunately the application still hangs on the splash screen as usual. (But only after mounting the A-10C module, like before.) My HDD is a 2TB Seagate hard drive. (ATA Device.) EDIT 2: I also tried once again deleting the DCS folder in Saved Games, no luck. EDIT 3: I also thought I'd throw in my DxDiag. Sorry I didn't do so earlier. Also, I noticed that the DxDiag noted that my DirectX version is 11. My GPU only supports up to DirectX 10. Could it be that maybe after installing the A-10C module it attempts to launch the game in DirectX 11? Hopefully we can solve this issue! - Sacrificer.DxDiag.txt Edited June 6, 2013 by Sacrificer Added EDIT: section. / Added EDIT 2: section. / Added EDIT 3: section.
Sacrificer Posted June 6, 2013 Author Posted June 6, 2013 (edited) Alright. I then opened DCS World and from there opened multiplayer and re-activated. Still no luck. App hang on the splash screen. =/ - Sacrificer. Edited June 6, 2013 by Sacrificer Added a dash.
Sacrificer Posted June 9, 2013 Author Posted June 9, 2013 (edited) The problem still exists. =/ Is any one looking in to this? One of the ED Team had asked me to send him an E-Mail with some info. (And I did. :P) I was hoping to have this fixed yesterday. It was my birthday and I was hoping to buy the DCS UH-1H Huey and try it out. Though, do you think the Huey would work, or would the application hang the same way it does when I mount A-10C? Is there any way I would be able to test and see if it mounts other modules properly so I know if I can purchase it or not? EDIT: I just tried running the application again with A-10C mounted. This time, it says: "Unable to run the application. The product license was deactivated on this computer." And I did not de-activate it. Maybe did the ED Team do something to my key? What happened? o.O Edited June 9, 2013 by Sacrificer Added EDIT: section.

All I can think is that the Window Update (aka cluster****) on the 31/05/2013 has knackered things. I know that for a while it even broke Internet Explorer, the stupid shits. Thing worked fine about a week ago. Any help would be appreciated. Not sure the DCS update is even working. Edited June 9, 2013 by UCAS
Sacrificer Posted June 11, 2013 Author Posted June 11, 2013 Fixed it, never mind! ----------- I'm kidding, there's no way I'd abandon you guys and leave you without telling you how I have fixed the issue. o.O Alright. So, about three days ago I was playing the base game with the SU-25T and had to alt tab a few times. As I have the Japanese Input Method defaulted on my PC, the game opened with it, so when I alt tabbed and thus tried to tab back in, the input methods float-box would pop up and show random non-Japanese characters and symbols that I would have to erase and press enter before being able to get back in to the game. Since then, I have had a hunch as to if the game would launch with the A-10C module mounted if I had turned off the Japanese IME. Though, I must apologize for not attempting to do so earlier. For some reason, I had believed up until now that that would not work, or be possible. As.. It just doesn't make sense to me how an input method would not allow a game to launch, especially since the base game (with no modules mounted) works completely fine with the IME. After spending around ~50 hours and 9 days, I thought I had diagnosed and tested every possible fix, along with a few things the developers had me try via E-Mails, etcetera. I say a few, because as I am on a different sleep schedule than the ED-Team (Or at least seemingly) as well as the weekend, E-Mails weren't moving too quickly between us. :P Any way, I finally attempted just switching my default input method to the English keyboard and re-launched DCS World with the A-10C module mounted and it worked perfectly. I have yet to play as I wanted to fill anyone in that may be following this issue or could possibly have a similar issue themselves as well. I will also be sending the ED-Team member(s) that had E-Mailed me with the news and editing it in to my first post with some shiny effects as to not be missed. Thank you to all those who have assisted me in this issue, I greatly appreciate it. I was nearly to the point of hopelessness (probably why I tried my hunch from three days ago). Now I can enjoy trying DCS World to the first time. But that doesn't mean I'm new to DCS A-10C! (Doesn't mean I'm experienced, either! Ahhah.) Thanks to all, once again! - Sacrificer. Too long? -- THANKS!: I fixed it! P.S.: After searching the issue a bit, I've found that others have had this problem before me and likely will after me, so I'm glad I could help (Hopefully I did help, and this gets to the developers. o.O) and other people with the IME (Probably other IME's too? :D) don't have to go through the same stuff I did. xD
