I have a question as to memory utlization in LOMAC/FC. I have a AMD 3500+ with 1GB of Crucial Ballistix Ram with a ATI800 Pro 256. I have noticed then when I enter the game and at the menu my memory utilization is at 43%. When I get into a F-15 open mission my usage jumps to about73%. When I back out of the mission and go back to the menu my memory usage only goes back down to 67%. When I load the same mission my memory utilization is now about 83%. When I go back to the menu screen my usage is now about 76%. When I go back into the mission again I am now north of 90% usage and my computer is starting to hit the page file on my Hard Drive with stutters when it hits the page file. I waited some lengthy time on the menu page to see if for some odd reason it was a delay in unloading the memory but it never did. If I restart the application I can reduplicate the issue all over again.

I have a picture of the GUI and what appears the renderer still doing cockpit and mirrors. I may be way off base but its just a FYI

Thanks

Hi there,

first of all I would like to ask you to not add such big pictures to your messages - it slows down loading the page for 56k people and of that picture, only the upper left corner is of interest at all.

Second, I think that the memory usage adds up because your OS tries to capture the last screen content while your were switching between the menu and the mission. I think this is normal behavior, so don't worry about crappy RAM management....

kind regards,

Raven....

I've just experienced another random graphics lockup in LockOn minutes ago. I've played same mission 3rd time (two times I got shot down).

Lockup I've had is known to almost everyone I guess.

Graphics are like frozen (sometimes you see 2 frames overlaping eachother), and you still hear sounds. Your plane does fly though, you just can't see it.

I guess this is also normal behaviour.

I agree with you that there's a memory leak somewhere. I've had good success with task switching out of LOMAC to the desktop and then back in to the game. I've had to repeat this sometimes 2-3 times before the graphics redraw correctly.

A friend and I fly the same mission over and over - sometimes 10-15 times to practice ACM and sometimes after the 10-12 time we repeat, LOMAC will crash to desktop if I don't task switch sometime before this or reboot.

I've explored other avenues like heat and power consumption, but this only happens with LOMAC and doesn't appear to be a heat, power, graphics problem.

So, try task switching when you encounter this problem & perhaps that will help.

Good luck,

Rhen
