Warhog Posted June 5, 2013 Posted June 5, 2013 When running Helios we all experience a drop in FPS. Does anyone know what it is in Helios that directly affects your FPS. By that I mean: 1. Is it the size of your second (or third) monitor that Helios is displayed on? 2. Is it the number of gauges that you are displaying on one screen or the number of swithces that you display? 3. Is it the number of interfaces that you have active? I'm looking to fine tune my use of Helios. I would like to get a balance between what I use in Helios vs what is an acceptable frame rate. I'm unsure what it is that I should be adjusting in Helios to change my FPS such as minimize the number of gauges I use, etc. Thanks all. Regards John W aka WarHog. My Cockpit Build Pictures... JG14_Smil Posted June 6, 2013 Posted June 6, 2013 (edited) Helios has never caused a loss of FPS for me, ever. I do run a simple profile though, with only gauges and a couple indicators. It is the extra monitors themselves, not the Helios that affect FPS (from what I have seen). I always used to love high FPS when simming with one or two monitors. Now that I run a large setup, I optimize it all to run at a steady 30 FPS and I am very happy with it. You should not be having any trouble with your signature system, unless you are running with Mirrors enabled. Edited June 6, 2013 by JG14_Smil
Gadroc Posted June 6, 2013 Posted June 6, 2013 You should have little to no frame rate loss with your specs. The probable cause is turning off aero desktop. Make sure your taskbar is transparent and that neither SoftTh or DCS is configured to turn off aero.
