britgliderpilot Posted February 9, 2006 Posted February 9, 2006 Not to revive an old thread, but after watching GA's moving, I thought of something. What does the US have to replace the AIM-54? Is there another platform capable to fire the missle? Given its range, its seems odd they would get rid of the long legs it has. The Phoenix hasn't been built for years - cracks are developing in the motors. They're just getting too old. I've read that French and other coalition Mirages were not allowed to fly over Iraq for the fear of friendly fire accidents, since Iraqis used mirages too
