I have custom snap views enabled and set up my views in the A-10C so that I can easily reach the radios, the MFDs, the CDU and so on. Snap Views in the Ka-50 also work fine.

But when I try to configure the Snap Views in the Huey, there is something very odd there. The assigned keyboard functions just don't really do what I would expect. Setting up and saving Snap Views works, but using Snap Views just don't.

When I pressed "Cockpit panel view toggle" (which I have set to "Num0"), I can switch to a Snap View by pressing a key on the num-pad without having to use the Lwin+NumX combination. The view stays until I select an other Snap View or until I press Num0 again. That is how it works in the Hog or the Shark.

In the Huey (exact same configuration of the "View Cockpit" category), pressing Num0 toggles only the Snap View 0, but afterwards switching to another Snap View by pressing NumX does nothing. Lwin+NumX works everytime, but that only temporary shows the Snap View ...

So, in short, in the Huey I can not switch over to a Snap View as I can in other aircrafts. Can anyone confirm this behaviour? Or am I doing something wrong?

*bump*

... so, nobody has similar problems in the Huey? Or do you all either don't use snap views at all ... or just to take a quick peek and do not toggle the view?

Yes, I have a similar problem. I tried to customize my snapviews using this procedure that I saved when I was doing this for BS1 and A10C over a year ago. And this did work at that time I believe:

Snap views can be helpful. I use the Keypad 0 + Keypad 2 combo (mapped to my joystick) to zoom in on the HSI and readout a bulls eye call. You can customize these snap view's zoom levels and exact placements very easily. For example I made the Keypad 0 + Keypad 2 combo zoom in to the maximum amount on the HSI. Here's how...

1) Go to the file .../Config/View/View.lua file and open w/ Notepad

2) find the line... DisableSnapViewsSaving = true ...and change the true to... false

3) To customize the snap views, while sitting in the cockpit , press "Keypad 0 + Keypad key" you want (example "Keypad 0 + Keypad 2"). Release the two keys. Pan and zoom the view to your liking (using your TrackIR, and/or Numpad 2, 4, 6, 8 keys, and/or RCtrl+RShift+Keypad 2, 4, 6, 8, /, * keys) then press "RALT and Keypad 0" to save it. Now the Keypad 0 + Keypad 2 SnapView has a new custom view.

 No matter which keypad key I selected, it always just changed the Numkey5 key every time. So, it seemed to work to assign the new 'view', but it assigned it to the wrong key. So, I am confused.

I have 2 questions:

1) How can we assign different SnapViews for the different aircraft? Isn't all of this saved in the same file that every aircraft uses? Or does each aircraft have it's own config/views/views.lua file somewhere? If so.. where?

2) Is there a different procedure 'in-game' to customize and save the snapviews?

Thx,

Snacko

Thanks a Ton for these links. Very useful info there. And I would like to tryout your neck mod sometime.

I tried to set the default snapviews and after I would set 2 for the pilot and test it several times.., I would set the co-pilot. Then when I go back to the pilot they are screwed up again. This happened over and over. I think it is porked at the moment. I've done this before with the other aircraft and had no problems.

seems you are quicker with a reply than reading the info I gave you ....

so I post it now in a quote what you have missed to read :

More info why you shouldn't change the neck position for the Huey:

I wasn't planning on changing the neck position for the Huey.

I just meant I might try your neck mod sometime with other aircraft.

.. well, the neck position works fine in my mod with the Huey

- but you are still not allowed to change it when you want to have the other cockpit positions intact - just the same as with the default Huey view.

You can only change the zoom/FOV and the angel - but don't change the position, as this also change also the view of the co-pilot and gunners.
