Brisse Posted July 19, 2013 Posted July 19, 2013 I have seen slight drop in FPS when there is a lot of bullets in the air at the same time. I haven't looked into it much but I have a feeling that it is due to ballistic calculation bogging down the CPU. This gave me an idea. Ballistics should maybe have it's own CPU-core if possible in the future, like sound has it's own in the current version. :smartass: Edit: Sorry for off topic, and sorry if I am wrong...
EtherealN Posted July 19, 2013 Posted July 19, 2013 This gave me an idea. Ballistics should maybe have it's own CPU-core if possible in the future, like sound has it's own in the current version. :smartass: Possible, yeah, but would take a LOT of work. Hopefully something we can see in the not too far off future, though. However, one note: it's not really optimal to specify that something has it's "own core". Sounds doesn't either, actually - it has it's own thread. Then - unless you tinker with it directly - the operating system gets to dynamically assign threads to cores depending on their needs at the moment. Makes the load-balancing between the cores a bit more versatile.
