fjacobsen Posted July 27, 2013 Posted July 27, 2013 After 1.2.5 I noticed that it is very hard or rather impossible to enter Vortex ring stat (Settling with power). I see this as a positive change, since I know froma German UH-1D pilot that in the real Huey it is also very hard to induce VRS. The manual also tells: 3.1.9. Settling With Power (Vortex Ring State) Settling with power is a condition of powered flight when the helicopter settles into its own main rotor downwash; this is also known as Vortex Ring State. Conditions conducive to settling with power include a vertical, or nearly vertical, descent of at least 300 feet per minute with low forward airspeed. The rotor system must also be using some of the available engine power (from 20 to 100%) with insufficient power available to retard the sink rate. These conditions occur during approaches with a tailwind or during formation approaches when some aircraft are flying in the downwash of other aircraft. I see no notice on this though in the Changelog for 1.2.5 Fjacobsen | i7-10700K 3.8-5.1Ghz | 64GB RAM | RTX 4070 12GB | 1x1TB M.2. NVMe SSD | 1x2TB M.2. fjacobsen Posted July 27, 2013 Author Posted July 27, 2013 Why can I then hover at 2000 ft, dump collective down and get into -2000 ft/min add collective and then get into hover again with zero IAS ? Also during approach I can get down below 20 kts IAS with -1000 ft/min without ever entering VRS ? That was certainly a nogo in 1.2.4 Fjacobsen | i7-10700K 3.8-5.1Ghz | 64GB RAM | RTX 4070 12GB | 1x1TB M.2. NVMe SSD | 1x2TB M.2. newbie2k Posted July 27, 2013 Posted July 27, 2013 Well, after the release of 1.2.5 I experimented a bit to see how mast bumping changed and due to my pretty aggressive flight style and sudden stops and turns while airborne I experienced a lot of vrs. So I cannot confirm that issue.

fjacobsen Posted July 27, 2013 Author Posted July 27, 2013 I finally succeeded geting into VRS, but it is definitly harder than before, so something must hev changed. | i7-10700K 3.8-5.1Ghz | 64GB RAM | RTX 4070 12GB | 1x1TB M.2. tusler Posted July 29, 2013 Posted July 29, 2013 I like coming down while in a left hand turn and I can get into VRS very easily while in the turn let the speed drop to zero and then try to pull it out with collective, I'll crash every time. Ask Jesus for Forgiveness before you takeoff :pilotfly:! Basically anytime your forward airspeed drops to zero and you are making large collective increases the danger increases ten-fold. Try landing on the oil-rig quick mission with your tail turned into the wind. Its nearly impossible NOT to enter VRS.

That's a good thing though so I'm not complaining I think she handles fine and you guys are probably just getting used to it. http://104thphoenix.com/ https://www.youtube.com/c/104th_Knight https://www.twitch.tv/104th_knight 104th_Knight
