Localization change from english to german possible without a new installation?

Hi,

 

is it possible to change the localization of a complete patched V1.2.5 DCSW version from english to german now?

 

It was downloaded as version DCSW V1.2.1 and installed in english, because there was only an english version out till this time. Now you can change it and you would ask for the localization but only during a new installation afaik.

It is posible, but only by a language pack, which should be released by ED or someone else as a mod.

 

It would be nice to have those language packs released officially for all DCS:W language versions.

There might be a way to do it with the autoupdater, but I'm not 100% sure, I shall ask.

Yes you can, but there's no GUI for this.

So you have to do all the dirty work by hand:

 

1) Change language code in Config/lang.cfg file

for German it would be DE. Please don't add any extra characters to the file. It should be 2 bytes long.

 

2) do a repair. Either by selecting Start menu item or doing dcs_updater.exe repair

 

After the successful repair the language will be switched to German.

 

Valid language codes (self explanatory, I hope):

EN, RU, DE, ES, CZ, FR

But I was not able to repeat the process for a friend with the Steam version.

 

Any idea if it is possible ? Maybe in the future ?

Steam has a GUI for this. Right click on DCS World in your Library, open Properties, Languages and select what you need. Steam will update the app then.
