PTGChef_uk Posted September 1, 2013 Posted September 1, 2013 AMD Phenom II 965be O.C'd to 4.0Ghz 16GB Ram MSI R6870 HAWK x 2 in Crossfire 3 monitors/eyefinity (3964x1024) Hi all, noobie here. Really struggling with FPS. Without looking to the mods just yet, which settings should I be lowering for maximum benefit? Or rather, which ones are killing my system?
Irregular programming Posted September 1, 2013 Posted September 1, 2013 I am not familiar with that processor but I think your problem is graphics card related. This game doesn't handle crossfire (or SLI) at all. I would try to disable that before starting the game, and also try lowering any graphics fidelity or see if you can play with one screen for a bit and see if it improves your FPS.
martinistripes Posted September 1, 2013 Posted September 1, 2013 Since I'm running DCS on a 2.40GHz processor, I would guess 4.0GHz to be ample. In-game settings that make a big difference, are Civ traffic, Cockpit shadows, and Visib range. Also make sure TSAA and ground clutter aren't enabled simultaneously. One or the other's fine. If you have any settings enabled through your graphics control panel (using a profile), I'd set them to default/use the application settings. Even anisotropic filtering will eat away FPS. PTGChef_uk Posted September 1, 2013 Author Posted September 1, 2013 Thanks guys, will try the suggestions and report back :)
ENO Posted September 1, 2013 Posted September 1, 2013 http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=101083 Highly recommend both of these threads... Many links to various mods that do help bring back FPS including the chimney smoke and removing personnel from a variety of static vehicles. Some view distance mods as well.
