azmida127 Posted September 3, 2013 Posted September 3, 2013 Hi guys, Just help me to understand about DCS World. Ok let start form scratch. I got this LockOn Platinum. Of course in order to play, i installed first the LOCK ON: Modern Air Combat, and then installed the Flaming Cliffs 2 and activated it. According to the manual i can then uninstalled the LOCK ON: Modern Air Combat and continue play the Flaming Cliffs 2 as usual. Now come this DCS World with all the available modules and one of it is Flaming Cliffs 3. Went through the website and it says that in order to run the Flaming Cliffs 3, i need to have previously the Flaming Cliffs 3 or the LOCK ON: Modern Air Combat. Another version says that in addition to this you would also need to download the DCS World first free and then only you can download and install Flaming Cliffs 3 provided you already have the previous version of Flaming Cliff. The question is can i download and install Flaming Cliffs 3 as long as i have the previous version of Flaming Cliffs without having the DCS World? Please enlighten me in this matter...tq
cichlidfan Posted September 3, 2013 Posted September 3, 2013 The question is can i download and install Flaming Cliffs 3 as long as i have the previous version of Flaming Cliffs without having the DCS World? Please enlighten me in this matter...tq No. DCS World is required for all current versions of DCS/Flaming Cliffs Modules. azmida127 Posted September 3, 2013 Author Posted September 3, 2013 No. DCS World is required for all current versions of DCS/Flaming Cliffs Modules. so what should i do is to install the DCS world ...and i still can play the flaming cliffs 2 as usual. Then i get the flaming cliffs 3 and and enjoy the game as before. Am i right? what about the activation?
azmida127 Posted September 3, 2013 Author Posted September 3, 2013 Install LockOn Install FC2 (optional) (if you want to fly this.. no idea why you would want to.) Install DCS World Install FC3 Uninstall LockOn (optional) (if you have LockOn or any version of FC installed go straight to installing DCS World then FC3.) You can have LockOn, FC1, FC2, DCS World & FC3 all installed and playable if you so desire. The only reason you would want anything other than World & FC3 installed IMO is if you have old missions you simply can't do without or cant recreate. DCS world & FC3 are the only ones that will be patched going forward. I hope that is as clear as mud :P What about activations? What is your concern? Ok.. i suppose there is no need to worry about activations. What about mod?.. I mean presently i use ModMan. I believe everybody has ModMan and access the game through ModMan. Can it be use anymore?
Simoxer Posted February 5, 2014 Posted February 5, 2014 Hi guys im new  i just want 2 know how could i get Flaming cliffs 3 now i installed lock on flaming cliffs 2 but when i open it says Internal error (error code: 0xE2003053). Close all applications and try again. If this does not help, press "Error report" and send the report to product customer support. i am using win8.1 i think my Mcafee prevent it so i'll try 2 activate it if it doesn't i am going to install flaming cl 3 so tell me how it works ? what i need
Exorcet Posted February 5, 2014 Posted February 5, 2014 FC3 does not require any software besides DCS World in its current form http://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/shop/modules/dcs_flaming_cliffs_3/ To use FC3, install DCSW 1.2.7 (or update to 1.2.7) then install FC3 version 1.2.7. Simoxer Posted February 5, 2014 Posted February 5, 2014 does it work for win8.1 cuz unfortunately as i mentioned above that fc2 isn't compatible with 8.1 so can i remove fc2 to play fc3 or not
Exorcet Posted February 5, 2014 Posted February 5, 2014 DCSW does work on Windows 8. Although I only have Win 7 and only plan on having 7, so I don't know of any Windows 8 or 8.1 issues that might exist. If your DCSW is up to date you don't need FC2, so you can remove it. cichlidfan Posted February 5, 2014 Posted February 5, 2014 It is probably Starforce that is not compatible with Win8.1 but as said, FC2 isn't needed. The only issue that I am aware of with Win8.1 and DCS is really not a DCS issue but a problem with TM MFDs, for which there is a work around. Mr_Burns Posted January 25, 2015 Posted January 25, 2015 I own A-10C, Flaming Cliffs and Hawk. Can I just ask, I have just bought a new SSD and am putting a clean install of DCS - re downloading it. I will then put a clean A-10 and Hawk as they are relatively small files. What I didnt want to do though is put a full 10GB Flaming Cliffs 3 on it when I only want the aircraft - does this make sense? Is it possible to use the Flaming Cliffs 3 key and just activate it in DCS-World? I might just buy the Eagle standalone if not. Thanks
cichlidfan Posted January 25, 2015 Posted January 25, 2015 I think you have something mixed up. FC3 is approximately 950MB while A-10C is 1.25GB, so the A-10C isn't relatively small at all. If you are wanting to install just the F-15C and use the FC3 key, that will not work. All modules require the free DCS: World first, then the planes plug into that. To divide you game up around multiple hard drives isn't something I'd recommend but you can do it with dirlinker. Google it and watch a youtube tutorial. Don't hold me responsible if you mess up your game though.
