dickdale Posted September 15, 2013 Posted September 15, 2013 Hi guys, I'm a newbie with flying simulation (FC3 in that case) and there is some stuff I don't really understand, maybe you could help out a little. The most urgent thing that's really annoying me is that on my ADI (F-15), the yellow bars don't move anymore when selecting another airbase. They remain stuck on the back and right side of the instrument. I'm trying to improve with ILS landing so it's kind of difficult without these... It used to work a few days ago, I don't know what I've done... Here is a screenshot (not from my game) to show you what it looks like. Can you please tell me how to fix this? Thanks ! Greg
fitness88 Posted September 15, 2013 Posted September 15, 2013 Some airfields don't have ILS...so you might try another to make sure that's not what the issue is.
dickdale Posted September 16, 2013 Author Posted September 16, 2013 Unfortunately, it doesn't work with any airfield. I assume I enabled/disabled an parameter somewhere...
fitness88 Posted September 16, 2013 Posted September 16, 2013 I will try a test with my sim later on today and report back my findings. If there is no known issue I would do a DCS repair.
104th_Maverick Posted September 16, 2013 Posted September 16, 2013 Hi, It does work sir but only on ILS mode. Unfortunately it will not work in any other mode. Make sure you have the correct ILS freq tuned AND most importantly you are coming in on the correct runway. It will not work if you are landing on the wrong runway... eg, if Kutaisi clears you to land on runway 08 the ILS will not work if you come in on 260. If your still struggling after trying again let me know and I'll knock up a quick video [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] 104th Phoenix Wing Commander / Total Poser / Elitist / Hero / Chad www.104thPhoenix.com www.facebook.com/104thPhoenix My YouTube Channel

dickdale Posted September 17, 2013 Author Posted September 17, 2013 Thanks to all ! I will give it a try this evening and let you know. Otherwise I will capture a video so that you can see.

FLANKERATOR Posted September 18, 2013 Posted September 18, 2013 Does ILS in the F-15C only work if that airfield is a mission waypoint? I don't think so, if you decide to divert to a different airfield, just make sure to get the right final approach heading from respective tower through the coms menu, select ILS mode and cycle trough aifields to select the desired one. F-15C doesn't have a navigation mode on the MFD so you'll have to use your HSI to confirm the desired airfield being selected. If you set up everything ahead before getting to close, you should be able to connect to any airfield's ILS. 104th_Maverick Posted September 18, 2013 Posted September 18, 2013 Does ILS in the F-15C only work if that airfield is a mission waypoint? No... as Flank says! The ILS in the game works in two parts... the first part is to get you too the ILS 'start' point... this is the area a set distance from the runway where the aircraft picks up the ILS. Imagine its like a fixed point 7-8 miles out from the runway, the ILS wants you fly over that fixed point at a certain altitude and attitude! Once you have passed directly overhead this fix the ILS will change to start giving you updates for where the runway is and will glide you down to it. You will notice this happen because you'll see the 'Range' on the Right hand side change on the HUD. Eg.... When you first select Kutaisi as your ILS, the ILS is pointing to a fixed position just outside of Kutaisi that it wants you to start from, you'll see that the range to this position is LESS than the total distance to Kutaisi, this is because the ILS wants to take you too this fixed position out from the runway first.... When you fly over it, you'll see the range change on the right hand side to display the distance from the runway, it is then that you start following the ADI, HUD for landing! Hope this helps S!
