sereupin Posted September 22, 2013 Posted September 22, 2013 Hi, i would like to host my DCS server on my computer at work, because there I can have a very very good connection quality and speed. I have administrators rights on LAN, so I can install and "go out" in internet; unfortunately, I am able to do remote connection by TeamViewer but i am not able to makes the vpn works.. the same with hamachi.. I can install them, but they doesn't connect/goes online.. so i am blocked. there is some ways/tricks for to go out and to be visible? For example, there is a method by ssh tunneling using the "open door" of internet (i can surf internet by a proxy, so i can "go out" by this way).. Thanks in advance for your suggestions and help !
Nate--IRL-- Posted September 22, 2013 Posted September 22, 2013 You'll need to be able to open ports on the firewall and also set NAT rules. You could attempt to pay for a VPN service, but it could be tricky to setup. Nate Ka-50 AutoPilot/stabilisation system description and operation by IvanK- Essential Reading

Nate thank you for your help.. let me ask one thing, and i am sorry for my ignorance.. if in my lan i am able to "go out" on internet by iexplorer, and also i am able to use teamviewer (i can connect to this pc from my home) or skype, there is not a way to use this " open door" for to setting up a vpn or something similar for to can make a server of dcs or teamspeak ? i tryied to use openvpn, vpnreactor and others, like the vpn of teamviewer or hamaci, and after I install them, they can't connect, like if they are blocked... but, if they are blocked, how is possibile to teamviewer to be visible from my home ? thanks again! :)
Nate--IRL-- Posted September 22, 2013 Posted September 22, 2013 Since port 10308 is blocked in your LAN you could possibly use a VPN to tunnel out through an open port. But to where? If the tunnel ends at your home, that is where the connection is made from the wider internet. It is the same as the server sitting in your house. Team Viewer doesn't rely on specific team viewer ports being open, it is a Layer 7 connection that uses the standard Port 80 and 443 Http and HTTPS ports. EDIT:- You will need to get friendly with your sys admin and buy him a beer or two. Nate 1 Ka-50 AutoPilot/stabilisation system description and operation by IvanK- Essential Reading
sereupin Posted September 22, 2013 Author Posted September 22, 2013 You will need to get friendly with your sys admin and buy him a beer or two. ahahahaha.. i think you are right mate :megalol: Since port 10308 is blocked in your LAN you could possibly use a VPN to tunnel out through an open port. this is exactly what I would like to do, if It's possible.. the open port can be the 8080, wich that our proxy use for to can navigate on internet by iExplorer... the "idea" was in some way to "simulate" that DCS server is just datas trasnferred from and between the http 8080 used for to navigate or to be connected with skype.. in skype, i set the proxy address of my company, the port is 8080 and then i put my username and pw for autentication.. and it goes "out".. if I could find a way to do that with dcs, would be great :joystick: But to where? If the tunnel ends at your home, that is where the connection is made from the wider internet. It is the same as the server sitting in your house. here I lost myself.. i am too much ignorant, also in my poor english... what do you mean with " if the tunner ends at your home" ? I think that I miss the basics of internetworking :( I would like to make the server hosting of DCS at my home, but i have 2 problems: first, my provider give me a connection with a IP like "private", internal.. for example from my modem I have this kind of IP 10.194.xx.xxx but the public ip is another one.. so I can't make myself visible on internet.. would need a public IP that I have not.. second problem, my connection speed is ok for myself..if I would host a server with 4 or 6 people, + teamspeak server, I would need much more speed connection.. where I work, i have my pc 24/24 switched on, and the connection speed is 6Mbps on download as upload .. why don't use this treasure for free? :D Team Viewer doesn't rely on specific team viewer ports being open, it is a Layer 7 connection that uses the standard Port 80 and 443 Http and HTTPS ports. I understand what you mean... layer 7 is about the iso/osi .. in other words, it works directly by application... isn't it? anyway, thank you for your kind explanations, help and sense of humor (about to offer a beer to my sysadmin :megalol:)
St3v3f Posted September 26, 2013 Posted September 26, 2013 I doubt that there will be anything left of a good connection when using some sort of vpn proxy service, especially concerning delay / ping. And that is provided that you do get it to work, which is unlikely either. aka: Baron [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
