Fifi Posted October 8, 2013 Posted October 8, 2013 Hi all, Making my hand on the P51 lately, was wondering what could be the best dogfight settings for RPM/manifold gauges... Moving the propeller RPM throttle, it affect my manifold gauge, and inverse too. So what could be the best RPM in regard of manifold gauge? (assuming to not overpass the red line) May sounds stupid, but i'm new to DCS...so sorry for that! [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]

Echo38 Posted October 8, 2013 Posted October 8, 2013 Welcome to DCS! We just were having this conversation a day or two ago, so I'll just link you to that thread: http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=115234 Enjoy the P-51! She's amazing, isn't she? 1
Fifi Posted October 8, 2013 Author Posted October 8, 2013 Thanks guys, and to Echoe38, the discussion link start to enlight my wondering  Seems that starting a dogfight, best is to keep full RPM and just adjusting the throttle for manifold pressure. Have to watch out my temp gauges too, cause i broke few engines already... I also may try to switch off auto coolant and oil, to see if any better. What about settings for max speed straight level flight? Also full RPM? [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
Echo38 Posted October 8, 2013 Posted October 8, 2013 Yeah. Ignoring the issue of engine overheating, max MAP and max RPM is the best thing for max speed. When diving very steeply, however, you may need to slightly pull back both throttle & propeller lever in order to keep your propeller from overspeeding.
Fifi Posted October 8, 2013 Author Posted October 8, 2013 Well i could have tested by myself :D setting a nice straight level flight with 0 wind and apply full MAP/RPM...read the speedo...decrease slightly RPM...read again, and same for MAP. Untill i reach the best max speed (wich as you said might be all full) [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
