Vedexent Posted October 10, 2013 Posted October 10, 2013 I have the Saitek X52 Pro HOTAS - and it works reasonably well in game but I'm finding that out of game, it tend to generate a lot of random key-press events that really mess with non-DCS World programs. Even in game, some controls seem to emit extraneous commands - like the throttle slider, and the rotary dials, which I initially wanted to use for Skival zoom on the SU-25T, and air-to-ground weapons ripple selectors. This turned out not to be possible, as the ripple settings seemed to change rapidly and randomly. I'm using the Saitek profile software, rather than trying to set everything in DCS World itself - which means I can unload the profile and the problem goes away, but it's still a PITA. Has anyone had similar issues, and did you find a solution? Thanks,
159th_Falcon Posted October 11, 2013 Posted October 11, 2013 Yep, got a solution, got a X52Pro as well. I assume you use the slider and rotary's in 2 bands. Each whit a control input assigned. If so, then this means that wherever you put the slider/rotary, you will always have it on an input. Instead, add an 3th band in the middle, which is empty. That way you can set the rotary/slider to the middle band, which has no input assigned. Problem solved. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] The keeper of all mathematical knowledge and the oracle of flight modeling.:)
Vedexent Posted October 11, 2013 Author Posted October 11, 2013 (edited) I think that will work - I'll make sure there's "quiet space" in all the band controls. Thank you. I don't suppose you know of a way to make the slider work opposite ways in opposite directions, do you? :) What I was thinking was - in the Su-25T profile - as the slider goes up target size in the Shkval (or gun pod elevation) goes one way, and as the slider goes down it does the opposite. You'd need the key events to be different depending on which direction the slider (or dial) was going, and I don't think the profile software differentiates direction just position. RosscoW Posted March 9, 2014 Posted March 9, 2014 Hello I think you are correct about the quiet space. I found a good profile but have one glich with it. The slider for the throttle stick is used for speed brake, with it in forward or aft position my my views don't work, wheel brakes don't work,... crashed a lot trying to figure out. Should I delete in game profile as it might be conflicting? :joystick:[sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]My Happy Place: MSI Red Dragon SE Cool Master Case,MSI Z370 Gaming M5 M/B,Intel Core i7-8700K CPU,Cooler master 750 Watt P/S,Cool Master Hyper 212 Cooler,1TB SSD, 500 GB SSD, 4 TB 7200 HD's,32 GB Corsair Vengeance DDR4 2666 MHZ Ram,MSI Geforce GTX 1060 6 GB Vid Card,Corsair Gear: Strafe, Harpoon, Void,Logitech Z906 1000 watt Surround,2 Asus 21.5” and 3 x LG 34” monitors,Track IR 5,Thrust Master Warthog Joystick and Throttle,TM Cougar MFD’s,CH Rudder Pedals.Good enough till next week.

That's one of the issues with the slider, when it's forward or backward and sending commands you can't enter any other key commands, it has to be in the middle or the dead band to release it. Tone71 Posted March 9, 2014 Posted March 9, 2014 That's one of the issues with the slider, when it's forward or backward and sending commands you can't enter any other key commands, it has to be in the middle or the dead band to release it. I set up bands (as mentioned above) so that the top and bottom 5% of the slider map to extend/retract airbrakes and the middle 90% is a deadzone. This helps prevent accidently leaving the slider in a position where it keeps sending a command. RosscoW Posted March 10, 2014 Posted March 10, 2014 Would be awesome to activate speed brake and wheel brake at same time but no biggy. I'm landing fine now and not cruising into the fence or trees at end of runway as I scramble to figure out what the hell is going on lol. Should a guy assign speed brakes forward and aft to diff buttons? It shuts off my view and zoom as I speed brake towards a target... Normally when your speed braking your definatley trying to accomplish other things.. :joystick:[sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]My Happy Place: MSI Red Dragon SE Cool Master Case,MSI Z370 Gaming M5 M/B,Intel Core i7-8700K CPU,Cooler master 750 Watt P/S,Cool Master Hyper 212 Cooler,1TB SSD, 500 GB SSD, 4 TB 7200 HD's,32 GB Corsair Vengeance DDR4 2666 MHZ Ram,MSI Geforce GTX 1060 6 GB Vid Card,Corsair Gear: Strafe, Harpoon, Void,Logitech Z906 1000 watt Surround,2 Asus 21.5” and 3 x LG 34” monitors,Track IR 5,Thrust Master Warthog Joystick and Throttle,TM Cougar MFD’s,CH Rudder Pedals.Good enough till next week.
