jeproject Posted October 19, 2013 Posted October 19, 2013 I've just started using the Maverick H & Ds and atm I'm not using the TGP as I want to keep the number of systems I'm using minimal while I learn. Sometimes I can still fire and hit the target without a solid cross. I've read a few posts saying the manual is wrong and that you don't need a solid cross and the gap just gets smaller but I'm still confused as to what says I have a valid lock. Pressing release weapon until it launches makes me feel like I'm playing an arcade game and takes away a lot of the reward feeling from the kill. Jason
jeproject Posted October 19, 2013 Author Posted October 19, 2013 Ok I see the difference now (having watched more youtube footage) between force correlate lock (total cross) and normal lock where there's a gap about the size of the target on screen but I'm sure I've had it where the gap is massive. Is it because I was at a different zoom setting?
Luzifer Posted October 19, 2013 Posted October 19, 2013 When locked in normal mode the lines of the cross should go to the edges of the object it locked on. So how big the gaps are depends on how big the object appears on the screen. 1

Time to break out some unarmed trucks in the editor I guess! I assumed that the lines would still go to the same point but obviously as it is locked onto the contrasting area there's no focal point as such. Does the missile go towards the center of the shape it's locked onto then? Thanks for the reply.
xxJohnxx Posted October 19, 2013 Posted October 19, 2013 Yes the missile will go towards the center. If you want to hit a specific point of e.g. a window of a building force corelate is your friend. 1 Check out my YouTube: xxJohnxx Intel i7 6800k watercooled | ASUS Rampage V Edition 10 | 32 GB RAM | Asus GTX1080 watercooled
jeproject Posted October 19, 2013 Author Posted October 19, 2013 (edited) Aye thanks guys. I'm aware of correlate however I haven't used it yet. Don't want to find myself using it as an easy fix because I can't get a lock. Next step after a few flights will be using TGP to target. I just didn't want to get shot at it and lose it and then be like ok so how do I shoot back now lol. Edited October 19, 2013 by jeproject 1
txmtb Posted October 19, 2013 Posted October 19, 2013 Time to break out some unarmed trucks in the editor I guess! If you are looking for a great training mission grab the TNN mission from the Hoggit sub on Reddit. It has separate target areas with easy, (trucks), medium (AAA & tanks), and hard, (SAM and ManPads), all on the same map along with several JTAC controllers, AWAC's, and 3 tankers. You can spend hours practicing everything and testing different weapon profiles. Go here: http://www.reddit.com/r/hoggit On the right sidebar you will see the links, look down the list for the training map link. jeproject Posted October 20, 2013 Author Posted October 20, 2013 You should see the maverick screen shaking with a valid lock (+) Yeah I see what you're referring to. I've seen numerous people calling it "breathing". I'm all set firing Mavs from their own cam and using the TGP now plus the basics of dumb bombs in CCIP mode after a late night of flying. It's all coming together slowly but surely.
