fitness88 Posted October 21, 2013 Posted October 21, 2013 (edited) The F15-C HUD fonts don't fit on the HUD. I can only see the ladder the speed and other data is off to the extreme edge with very little showing. I experienced this flying 'create fast mission'. I have installed DCS 1.2.6.18933 Update 2 Solved: I had 'User snap-view saving' enabled in the >options>misc. This seemed to cause my issue. When disabled all works fine...why would that be, I didn't have that problem using Mig29-s. I thought this setting is for enabling snap views? Thank you. Edited October 22, 2013 by fitness88 solved

Just come to grips with this myself, It can be quite confusing ------------------- You have the full 3d 6dof cockpits of the DCS brand A-10, Blackshark2, etc and flaming cliffs 3 F-15c, and soon to be mig-29 I think. (With these in snapview editing you can move the cockpit camera about in the X, Y, Z axis), this allows you move the cockpit in 3d space around the HUD Display, so you can offset the hud, zoom in and out on the Hud to make it smaller, or larger in reference to the cockpit itself. In Flaming cliffs 3 versions, the F-15c has been converted to 3d, but at this very moment, the mig-29's, su-25t, su-33 and su27, A-10a are still 2d cockpits and can't have the cockpit camera adjusting in the X,Y,Z axis), this only allows you to move and zoom in and out on the whole cockpit / HUD as one unit. When user snapviews are first enabled, every plane gets a default view for all of its different views, and these, to say the least are far from perfect, it is something you have to fix yourself basically using the cockpit camera controls and snapshot saving keys (The file is saved seperately in your DCS user files). IF you turn the user snap view saving option off - your are effectively, using a preset set of view points that have been thoroughly tested and are more or less are known to work as advertised. Regards, Ian Thanks for your follow-up. So what you are saying is that 3D will be difficult to have saved snap views for use in your next session. The only way is to tweak it manually with small adjustments?
MadDog-IC Posted October 23, 2013 Posted October 23, 2013 Thanks for your follow-up. So what you are saying is that 3D will be difficult to have saved snap views for use in your next session. The only way is to tweak it manually with small adjustments? All things are difficult when you have never done them before, you just have learn the controls to do what you wish to achieve, Clearer instructions follow at end, do the bold keystrokes to achieve result. Play a bit until you are comfortable with the camera moving controls, and saving the actual Default view and snap views. The 3d cockpits are by the most flexible, especially around the HUD dimensions in relation to the rest of the cockpit. With flexability comes more complexity. Customising a Snap View ----------------------------- Disable TrackIR - you will probably need to shut it off while doing this, otherwise it won't save the view the way you want it! Set your current view up - as you want it saved using camera controls. Press LWin+Num1 , Available are (Num1 - Num9) - being whichever numeric keypad key you intend customising. Your view will briefly snap to whatever the current snap view setting is for that key, then return to your previous view. Press RAlt+Num0 - To save the new snap view. Test it - by changing your camera view, then holding down LWin+Num1 - you should see your customised snap view! Customising the Default View ----------------------------------- Disable TrackIR - you will probably need to shut it off while doing this, otherwise it won't save the view the way you want it! Press Num5 to reset your view to the current default. Adjust your view - to what you want as the new default with camera controls listed below (do not use any snap view keys in the process!) "Num5 - RShift" Center Camera View "Num/ - RCtrl - RShift" Cockpit Camera Move Back "Num5 - RCtrl - RShift" Cockpit Camera Move Center "Num2 - RCtrl - RShift" Cockpit Camera Move Down "Num* - RCtrl - RShift" Cockpit Camera Move Forward "Num8 - RCtrl - RShift" Cockpit Camera Move Up "Num/" FOV- aka Zoom-in "Num*" FOV+ aka Zoom-out "NumEnter" Default FOV aka Zoom Press RALT+Num0 - To Save your new Default view. The problem is enabling the 'User snap-view saving' in the >options>misc will result in a messed up HUD but is however necessary to save customization for the next session. How do you get around this issue?
