OneFatBird Posted October 22, 2013 Posted October 22, 2013 Hello, and first post from a brand new DCS World user. Absolutely a great simulator, lots of neat details, like for one the Mach Tuck at high speed on the SU-25T! Notwithstanding, I have at least two questions at this point. Sorry if they have been asked before. I enjoy the Mission Editor very much, but I cannot seem to find a way to make a runway a "valid" target; that is, one that registers as being "hit" or "dead" on the debrief screen. The "bomb runway" mission exists as a flight task option, but does very little upon its accomplishment. Now maybe it is my lack of experience at this point, but is there a way I could at least make hits on a runway increase score, with triggers, zones and conditions, perhaps? I mean, with some precision with regards to the dimensions of the runway. Also; at this stage I like to have the targets "boxed" by the labels option, but I find the clutter of all the writing a bit bothersome and distracting. Is there a way I could just have the contacts boxes (blue and red) without all the writing? That way I would have a beginner's aid to locating targets, but it would still leave the identification of the target up to me with my "Shkval". ATM, switching off the labels (eg; with R-Shift F9 or F10) switches off the boxes, too. Thank you for your attention! 1
Wrecking Crew Posted October 22, 2013 Posted October 22, 2013 You won't get 'kills' or 'points' for damaging or destroying static objects with the regular ME. Welcome to the fun house, BTW! You may be able to use the scripting aspect of mission design to get recordings of runway damage. When you do bomb a runway, the craters that are there will tear the wheels off of any a/c that hits them. I have a mission where I wanted to show some very large 'craters' and damage to a runway. I created a ME event that placed Bunkers at the runway intersections and then exploded them, leaving behind a big mess that planes cannot go around. --- As for your other question re labels -- always best to separate questions into their own posts. I recall posts about modifying the labels - colors, symbols,,, Google this - dcs a-10C: labels WC Visit the Hollo Pointe DCS World server -- an open server with a variety of COOP & H2H missions including Combined Arms. All released missions are available for free download, modification and public hosting, from my Wrecking Crew Projects site.
esb77 Posted October 22, 2013 Posted October 22, 2013 (edited) Default trigger areas are radii around a point I think and therefore circular. You could do an inelegant solution with many small trigger areas in a line, but I suspect that someone has coded and published a script that can make rectangular trigger areas. And there is a post about how to customize how labels appear, complete with example code and where to put it. Search the DCS World forum section for the keywords, "target, find, labels" and you should probably get a results list that includes the post containing that info. I combine the two by predictably boring large holes in the ground with my plane.
OneFatBird Posted October 23, 2013 Author Posted October 23, 2013 Thanks to you both, that was actually quite helpful. Regarding the labels, to be sure, I believe this is the post referred to above by esb77. All good, and I am reasonably comfortable with scripting, fortunately!
zeufman Posted October 23, 2013 Posted October 23, 2013 You can use a trigger with bomb in zone to simulate an event when the bomb hit the runway
