As a general measurement it has its uses.

No tape measure handy use your foot, that there is '1 ft' or say 3m (304.8mm), how about inches get your retractable fingers out, each segment of an average man's finger is '1 inch' or say 25mm (25.4mm), which one looks the easiest to use off hand for quick easy measurments, horses for courses. Personally I prefer a pint of beer over 568ml of beer, a pint sounds more like a man's drink.

But in engineering metric is much simpler method unless it involves working out what time the pub opens for lunch, a metric clock would be ridiculous. :)

Learning both is a must in todays world.

And much faster and more exact to work with!

Any mod perhaps or am I forced to check it on F2 view as it shows metric?

Yep, a mod called "menthal arithmetic". :D

1 meter = 3,33 feet (or ~ 3)

--> 1000 feet = 3300 meters

1 knot = 1,85 km/h (or ~ 2)

--> 300 knots = ~ 600 km/h

thats enough to fly with. ;)

and it's closer to 3.25 than it is to 3.33. ;)

adding decimal places just compounds the error, too!

I usually go with

1 m = 3 ft

1 nm = 1.8 km (multiply by two and substract 10% of what you get, like 30 nm => 60 - 10% = 60-6 = 54 km)

Not very exact, but good enough for quick conversion.

I take it you mean the Air Force only?

Yes, my bad, I meant the Air Force only. And, BTW the measuring a person's height in feet and inches is something I cannot comprehend. I do alright with both kinds of miles, am ok with feet, yards, still having some trouble with Farenheit, but a "5 feet 4 inches tall" still doesn't tell me anything useful :)
