JG-1_Vogel Posted October 29, 2013 Posted October 29, 2013 After a fun night flying with squad mates having just bought FC3 my Cougar is having a tantrum and refusing to work properly. According to Device Manager TM Cougar IN and OUT are "working properly" and recognised fully by the computer. Yet, when I load up the control panel to active my loaded profile all I have it a greyed out box with a pop up of something along the lines of "error - please ensure the device is connected and working properly". The confusing thing is, when I load up DCS FC3 I can hop in the pit and the axis controls for the stick and throttle work fine. Just none of the buttons work since no profile is activated. I tried recompiling a profile in Foxy and loading it to the HOTAS memory but the problem still persists. Have also unplugged the HOTAS USB and reconnected, no change and a reboot didn't improve things either. Just really worried at this point, I've had the Cougar for quite a few years now and I'm really not in the position to be buying another or a different HOTAS system.
JG-1_Vogel Posted October 29, 2013 Author Posted October 29, 2013 Ok I just unplugged everything and for a moment it was ok, loaded a profile (button was green in control panel) I load up Teamspeak, then quit because no one was on server and now it's gone again saying it's not connected???? Checked and under USB controllers in Device Manager it's showing Thrustmaster HOTAS Cougar IN and OUT as ok. I really don't get the problem?
Kuky Posted October 29, 2013 Posted October 29, 2013 have you ever flushed the firmware (do firmware update)? Sometimes it helps to do it, if you do disconnect the throttle before you do it, after firmware flush reconnect it. JG-1_Vogel Posted October 29, 2013 Author Posted October 29, 2013 Yeah I've done the firmware and it seems to be recognised ok now. Only thing is now whenever I try to load a profile from foxy it says I'm missing keycodes.txt (even though its in the Foxy main directory) and copying the backup from the Info folder makes no difference. So stuck with the default profile for the Cougar atm.
Kuky Posted October 29, 2013 Posted October 29, 2013 Make new simple Foxy profile (like 1 button only) and load that one, then if that works check that existing Foxy might be bad and recreate it (re-save it with new names) PC specs: Windows 11 Home | Asus TUF Gaming B850-Plus WiFi | AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D + LC 360 AIO | MSI RTX 5090 LC 360 AIO | 55" Samsung Odyssey Gen 2 | 64GB PC5-48000 DDR5 | 1TB M2 SSD for OS | 2TB M2 SSD for DCS | NZXT C1000 Gold ATX 3.1 1000W | TM Cougar Throttle, Floor Mounted MongoosT-50 Grip on TM Cougar board, MFG Crosswind, Track IR
JG-1_Vogel Posted October 29, 2013 Author Posted October 29, 2013 (edited) I copied the code from the tmj and tmm files for my Su25 profile and created a new on with it, same issue. Does it with all profiles. Think my Foxy install is messed up. EDIT: Ok, so Foxy is working to a degree (reinstalled). I've created fresh profiles by copying code from notepad which all checks out. However, on the joystick layout editor there are no commands listed for the buttons etc while the throttle is showing everything I've programmed. When I go into FC3 the commands work for the throttle but not for the stick, which is strange. Also, in the CCP next to calibration etc I've got "Profile: <none>" even though it just downloaded it from Foxy? Is Foxy actually sending stuff to my Cougar? Or should I try flashing it again? JG-1_Vogel Posted November 1, 2013 Author Posted November 1, 2013 I'm still having issues with my HOTAS. I got it to work, for a while by doing a fresh install of the drivers/foxy/reflash the stick. However just before a squad night tonight it started playing up again. The computer recognises the HOTAS, I can upload profiles and everything is ok. I click on the red box to activate the profile in CCP. Then, the moment I load up DCSW or the MP shortcut suddenly it greys out the box and windows no longer sees the controller. It's doing my nut in, as up until a few days ago it was working flawlessly. I'm really running out of ideas guys, I would really appreciate feedback and know if anyone's experienced issues like this before.
