When cycling ILSN in the F-15, does each press of the cycle button correspond to the next posted airfield in the ATC list [upper right corner of screen]? When testing, it seems that the number of presses to start from the beginning again [1- airfield] is inconsistent.

Thank you.

No, the list changes depending on location. The one in the F-15C is a static list, and does not change throughout the flight. Location 0 always corresponds to the starting airport.

TBH, I always found the ILSN nav mode to be a bit ridiculous in the FC3 birds. Without having any actual procedures, you are left to find the slant range to the desired airport, then plug away at the LCTRL - ` combo until the desired range appears. I would go absolutely insane if I had to deal with something so inefficient in real life.

The tower list displays a list similar to what you would see in the A-10C's divert CDU page.

If you aim for the sky, you will never hit the ground.

Yes the ATC list changes as your proximity changes to the airports.

As for the F-15C static list...try cycling from the first airport and count the amount of different airports you cycle through till you get back to the first airport. Then try it again and the amount will change.

Yes 0 is always the start airport.

I created a template list with 1 waypoint strategically placed at the ILSN intercept point of every airport. Now I have a close exact reference when cycling through the HSI to find the chosen airport. Wish we could standardize something like this for use in all missions:thumbup:

I understand the implications for missions that need specific waypoints. This can be done by reserving 30? waypoints for all the airports and then start to use waypoints 31 32 33 etc. for mission specific waypoints.

Again, every airport has a unique course, indicated on the HSI, that you can use to discriminate which one you are tuned on. For example:

295 is Mineralne Vody

236 is Nalchik

219 is Maykop

062 is Sochi

126 is Batumi

...

All tested with the F-15C cockpit. These are not necessarily exact courses. The course displayed for Batumi for exemple, is actually between 125 and 126. Those headings almost match the ones you can find by clicking on an airport on the F10 map (often within one degree - Maykop gives 218, Batumi 125, etc...).

I thought the headings for each airport constantly changed relative to your position?

Edit:Got it, just realized you are referring to final approach heading.

Does anyone have the 21 airport names that match all 21 HSI courses in the F-15C I don't think the runway info in the manuals match the HSI courses you see in the plane.
