Dealing with AI quirks

Is there a way to prevent AI ground attack aircraft from jettisoning all their stores when fired upon? Pretty much any target area will usually have some AA of some sort, so therefore the AI becomes instantly useless if you want them to engage ground targets.

 

I've had AI dump a whole load of valuable bombs/missiles, evade a missile, and then run in with guns on a Roland....WTF!

 

I don't want to completely cripple them defensively by setting them to ignore threats so is there another way?

Yes, set the Advanced Waypoint Option of Reaction To Threat = Passive Defense.

 

I will set that on the starting WP or the #1. You can change it at a later WP after the target area. I see what you asked... that's the way I do it.

 

 

For vehicles you can set the Option Dispersal Under Fire to False. I think this helps keep vehicles from getting stuck, like on bridges.

Something else I noticed that may be of some help is that if you have a unit late activated and it is in the path of other vehicles... they will try to drive around the late activated vehicles.

 

I've found I need to "park" my late activated vehicles over to the side "off road." Otherwise it looks downright foolish.

 

Crew's suggestions above are also pretty spot on in my experience. I have stopped putting AI aircraft into the missions because of the impact extra "eye candy" are having on client's experiences on the server. Sadly all but the essentials are being cut out.

 

Nice thing about having some of these things activated by trigger, however, is that right now I can edit them out through conditions- when the system becomes more stable I can change the conditions back and not have to go through the hassle of resetting up the units from scratch.
