Hello all,

Is there a cheat sheet (let's call it a checklist) available for everything that needs to be done to get the A-10C ready for combat from a runway start? What are all the systems that need to be powered up before entering enemy space?

Here's what I know, but I feel sure I'm missing some things:

Master Arm on

Laser on

TGP on

GUNPAC on

Countermeasures panel settings

Maverick EO on

That can't be all. What other settings are not-yet-ready-for-action when starting on the runway?

Thanks!

Well, what I'm really asking is this: if I do a runway start, what isn't on yet?

My point of comparison is an Instant Action air start, where everything is on already (Mavericks warmed up, countermeasures and RWR set, etc).

Paul,

I think what you listed in your OP is pretty much it. A few things of note though:

I would not turn on the master arm and PAC. The PAC will add in the negative trim and you dont want that on take off.

The pod would be fine to get turned on and get spun up (I do mine in the blocks before taxi)

Leave the Mavs off until you get to the IP.

I'd also set up your weapons and countermeasures profiles and any other systems you may desire. Its easier to do all of that on the ground while static.

From there once you get into Indian territory just do your normal fence in. Lights off Master Arm on, CM systems up mavs cooling. I leave the PAC off unless I'm fixing to shoot the gun.

Hope that helps

Thanks for the replies!

Does the GUNPAC really add negative trim at all times? I thought it only did so when the trigger was depressed.

If you press the trigger to the first dent, trimming is applied to stabilize the gun when you depress the trigger further to the second dent. To make sure the systems have enough authority to do so, trimming is adjusted accordingly already when GUNPAC is enabled. Maybe one could say, GUNPAC "reserves enough trimming" beforehand. :o)
