xxJohnxx Posted November 26, 2013 Posted November 26, 2013 Hi folks, As the EDGE release is not to far away (or at least not as far away as yesterday) I am considiering to upgrade my rig. As far as I understood, EDGE should benefit from SLI. Right? So I am looking at an additional GTX 780, to be operated with my current 780 in SLI. Would youg guys recommend a graphic card update to a SLI configuration? I understand that EDGE isn't out yet, and so nobody really knows it's hardware usage. I am just curious about your thoughts! NatoBoomerang Posted November 26, 2013 Posted November 26, 2013 If all's well, I'm looking to do the same also - but will hold out until EDGE is released. 1 "it don't matter, no more..." ==========================================
Thick8 Posted November 26, 2013 Posted November 26, 2013 I second that. I've been holding off my upgrade (it's been hard). I'm hoping EDGE will use some more of my 6 core cpu. If it also supports crossfire/SLI then I can get away with just adding another 6970. Rhinox Posted November 27, 2013 Posted November 27, 2013 How much do you get from SLI (compared to single GFX)? +20-30%? IMHO, it is not worth it. If one GTX780 is not enough for you, then instead of buying the 2nd one, I'd sell my 780GTX and buy GTX780Ti. You get about the same performance boost for less money (less power-consumption, less heat-generation, etc.)... 1
Abburo Posted November 27, 2013 Posted November 27, 2013 20-30% in synthetic tests. Overall though, it is a siginficant improve on average FPS which is a bit different situation. I am just experiencing these results with 770GTX SLI. 1 Romanian Community for DCS World HW Specs: AMD 7900X, 64GB RAM, RTX 4090, HOTAS Virpil, MFG, CLS-E, custom
xxJohnxx Posted November 27, 2013 Author Posted November 27, 2013 Thank you guys for your replies! Depending on your answers I will probably go for a second 780, altough replacing my current 780 with a 780Ti doesn't seem to bad of an idea either!
