VTJS17_Fire Posted December 8, 2013 Posted December 8, 2013 Hello togehter, I thought, I read that with DCS 1.2.6 no clients are able to play CA online, because the server would crash. But my mate Rex, bought CA on a steam sale last week and need some help on his first CA strip. So I built a simple RTS style mission to show him the functions and features of combined arms. After I recognized, that he is able to play as client on my side and the red side, I decided to record a video. For me, CA was a day 1 purchase and I like the affect, that CA brings to multiplayer matches in DCS ... today and in the future with more features/ units to control. The match was exciting, so I'll do a DCS CA mission, with ground forces only. mwd2 Posted December 8, 2013 Posted December 8, 2013 yes, CA has a lot of potential and bring also a lot of fun into a MP session....but also some problems: - in a MP session, only the HOST can take control over AI air units - no human player can see my signal flares, fired from ground units we will see what the next patches will bring. I agree however the last point "...- no human player can see my signal flares, fired from ground units" not true we hold full theatre war mission with both ground and air and we able to coordinate attacks. These mission comprise between 10 to 16player missions which we have been doing since inception of our dedicated server. We tested it today and could see the flares of each other. we will see what the next patches will bring. This isn't to say it is all that it can be right now- not by a long shot... But if this next patch is what everyone hoping it is they should put a nice polish on the CA experience too. There are a few lag issues (as mentioned) they need to deal with but I think the biggest gap right now is an inability to move formations of vehicles from one place to another without them getting hopelessly logjammed either on a bridge or some other terrain feature. Eno, I'm sure you're aware that this isn't strictly a CA issue. This happens quite frequently with groups that are simply moving along assigned routes, especially when assigned "on road" and when reacting to enemy fire--even with no CA control. [sigpic][/sigpic]
