referring to the change log:

Implemented correct throttle model including ignition, STOP, IDLE, and IDLE RELEASE functionality

Can someone explain this to me. What is the new, correct start-up and shut-down sequence now? What is throttle STOP, IDLE RELEASE?

Thanks!

The Idle Stop is used to stop you from accidently rotating the throttle into the off position.

The Release lets you rotate the throttle to its off position.

You now have to introduce fuel into the engine by rolling the throttle during startup.

Everything is the same until you get to the point where you engage the starter switch. place your mouse over the throttle and scroll until you reach the idle position. You can see where that is on the control position indicator display on the top left of your screen. Most manuals call out for "throttle - set to start". I don't know what that actually is but I set it to idle and it seems to start okay there. Now just hold the start button, now it is the trigger on the collective, and hold until you reach 40% gas producer. It will then be self sustaining. Also monitor EGT while starting and make sure it doesn't get too hot.

For shutdown bring the throttle to idle which is as far as you can go. Let the engine idle for a couple minutes to cool down and then click the idle detent switch which will allow you to continue to roll the throttle to off. That will cut the fuel.

Hopefully someone with more real UH-1H insight can provide us with more detailed info.

It seems though the consequences of a hot start are not simulated at the momment. If you set your engine on fire (which is indicated by 2 meters of flammes comming out of your exhaust (not synchronisied on mulitplayer)) it will just happily burn for hours if you don't cut your fuel or blow it out by starting your engine. There will be no indication for a burning exhaust in the cockpit, as neither the exhaust temperature rises (showing about 100°C) nor the FIRE lamp get illuminated.

You're right, the feauture was marked "WIP" in the changelog. We anticipate having this completed for 1.2.7 final, although still subject to change.

How did you get a hot start going? I tried starting the engine with the throttle set to full and the exhaust temperature stayed in the green the entire time.
