27th NightSnow Posted January 1, 2014 Posted January 1, 2014 Hey guys, ive recently started with DCS and have already gotten most of the things for both A-10s down. I just have about 3 questions to ask for help on and i should be alright for a while. 1. How do you turn on the wingtip/fuselage anti collision/navigation lights? R-Ctrl + L doesnt work, and i can't find the switch. 2. Do radios only require 3 switches to activate? I know the switches but for the past few days I havent gotten any response back from ATC, and i dont have a channel to turn to if its wrong. 3. I have recently started using manual start rather than Auto-start sequence, with that is where my problems with radio comms, and lights have come in, but the last thing is that i have no reticle for any of my weapons, so i went through and watched the auto-start and the only thing I miss is the EGI. Is that what it is? Everything is armed and normal but my EGI never turns on no matter how many times i click it. Help on this would be great. Thanks guys. :) -27th Fightin' Eagles "NightSnow":helpsmilie:
Doughboy Posted January 1, 2014 Posted January 1, 2014 (edited) 1: L-Ctrl+P Lights on (HOTAS pinky switch aft) L Shift+P Lights off (HOTAS pinky switch center) 2: Yes you only have to turn 3 switches to get the radios up. The top (AM) turn the right mode selector dial to TR. The middle radio (UHF) turn the left dial to BOTH. The bottom radio (FM) turn the right dial to TR. At a minimum you have to have the batteries and inverter on to power up the radios. You'll also have to set the radios to the correct frequency if you are NOT using easy comms. If you are NOT using easy comms you'll need to make sure you are using the correct (AM,UHF,FM) radio to contact whomever you need to talk to. IE if you try contacting ATC on UHF you're going to have a bad time. Note that the radios are also kind of buggy with the current offering of DCS world and are supposed to be fixed in the next patch. 3: To get the EGI up you have to wait for your INS to fully align. This takes several miniuts after its powered up. Check the CDU page in your MFCDs. You will seesomething towards the bottom that says T= #.# #.# (# being numbers that change). What you are waiting for is T= 4.0 0.8 and INS NAV READY falshing at the top. From there you hit the OSB next to "NAV" on the right hand side of the CDU page on the MFCD (OSB 8 or 9 i think) you'll get an * next to NAV. Click EGI on the nav panel and then turn on the EAC and you should be good to go. Edited January 1, 2014 by Doughboy Go Ugly Early! [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
camsr Posted January 1, 2014 Posted January 1, 2014 #1 is the pinky switch. Use it to turn off/on the exterior lights AFTER they are activated on the lighting control panel (right and behind the pilot). The keybind only flips the activation switch, the pinky switch uses it. #3 is a startup alignment problem. You must use the CDU in the OTHER page (which is default for startup) and wait until "T = 4.0.0.8". Then switch the CDU into NAV mode. THEN press the EGI button. Do not throttle up or move the plane before the alignment is completed.
ApoNOOB Posted January 1, 2014 Posted January 1, 2014 2. What Doughboy said, but something else very important: Every radio has it's own HOTAS shortcut, FM, AM & UHF. When you dial in an ATC on the AM radio you have to open the AM radio menu via the correct shortcut - check your Keybindings and make something with a modifier on your joystick. 3. Correcting camsr: Afaik the correct path to the alignment page is NAV->Align. If you don't change anything the CDU page won't change & ground alignment will start on the ground. If you move your aircraft before this is done - the ground alignment will fail and have to restarted. You can do a Inflight Alignment -> INFL or something like that. You can move your aircraft while this mode is running but it takes longer. (The number Doughboy talks about has to go higher) edit: After you did either alignment fully, press the NAV button on the CDU and the EGI button behind your stick.
camsr Posted January 1, 2014 Posted January 1, 2014 I was refering to the knob to change WP mode, with the OTHER detent :) But thanks for correcting me!
