fighter1976 Posted January 27, 2014 Posted January 27, 2014 Hi! sorry for posting here, but don't know where.Have a problem (newbie,eh...) in editing mission. How can I edit a heli to attack a land or sea target( a vehicle or boat for example)? The only thing I manage so far is that the heli attack "map objects" at it's own will. Same question about editing an heli to attack another heli or plane. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks!
Exorcet Posted January 27, 2014 Posted January 27, 2014 First select the waypoint where you want the helicopter to attack. Then go to advanced waypoint options, add a new action of the type "Enroute Task" and depending on what mission you've assigned the unit (CAS, CAP, Transport, etc) you will have options such as "Search Then Engage". If you post the mission and a little more detail I might be able to help more later. Mirco91 Posted January 27, 2014 Posted January 27, 2014 If you want an AI controlled unit to attack another unit you'd do the following. 1.)Create the group you want to be the agressor and choose its Task. Different tasks give you different options when assigning orders to that group. For this example we're just going to use an A-10C which gets the task "CAS." 2.)Create a group you want the A-10C to attack. Give that group a name you'll easily recognize. For example use two BTR-80 and call them "enemy vehicle group 01." 3.) Choose the A-10 again. You know that second half of the screen where you can manage waypoints of that unit or payload, well the third page of it has a symbol when you hover over it it says "triggered actions." Here you'll click on add. This opens a new window where you choose under type "Perform Task" and under action choose "Attack Group." Then next to group you choose your "enemy vehicle group 01." Now in the Editor you'll see when the A-10 is selected that a straight line is drawn from the plane to the enemy vehicle group which ends in a triangle. My english sounds clunky since it's not my first language. :) Edit: Lol I typed too long. :D
fighter1976 Posted January 29, 2014 Author Posted January 29, 2014 Got it now ! works fine.Thank you , guys! one more question: if I want the heli popping out flares near the enemy, set out flares deploy at that waypoint -"condition" set to "when near enemy" ,but nothing happened. Is this maybe because the units were only armor?( no AAA?)
Exorcet Posted January 29, 2014 Posted January 29, 2014 Without having the sim in front of me, I'm not sure on all the correct terminology and menu order, but you can try making a trigger zone around the enemy or individual trigger zones on individual enemy units. Then set a triggered action so that when the helicopter enters the trigger zone(s) it is set to the Option to continually use flares. ENO Posted January 30, 2014 Posted January 30, 2014 Except that unless I'm missing a menu option, that one isn't available. Close as I can see is "use when near enemies N/A" but I'm not sure what "N/A" means... Anyone? Are you just popping flares for the heck of it- a little eye candy? If so- then you might be able to put some SAM threats in the area and have them "hold fire"... that way you could use "Use when inside SAM WEZ"... and you could put some SA18s around the area and have them hold fire. That way you get the effect you want and your helos survive. "ENO" Type in anger and you will make the greatest post you will ever regret. "Sweetest's" Military Aviation Art
