Is there a native/ideal screen resolution for DCS and if so what is it?

I would imagine that the best resolution would be the native resolution of your display, assuming that your GPU card is powerful enough to drive it.

Thanks for your reply which implies that there isn't a native resolution for the DCS software. I am asking as I am currently upgrading my PC hardware and wondered if I needed to aim for a particular screen resolution.

Yep, generally software doesn't have a "native" resolution, displays have a native resolution and software is written to be able to run in a variety of resolutions.

That said, a higher resolution screen will show you the same image crisper and with more detail, which can increase immersion as a whole and make life easier when spotting or identifying targets.

If it's within your budget, then a high-resolution monitor alongside the appropriate graphics card to drive it is the way to go.

Unless money is no issue, though, I'd recommend just using your existing monitor if it still gets the job done. Then buy a graphics card that's just a tad stronger than what is required to make DCS run smoothly on your monitor's native resolution...

Thanks for that. I currently have a Samsung T24 inch at 1920 x 1200 and am hoping to upgrade my PC to include a GTX 780 Ti. I would also like to upgrade my screen as I am having problems seeing the HUD text on some aircraft, not the SU 27 though:).

I think that I should go for a 27 or even a 30 inch but as G sync monitors will start shipping this quarter I will wait to see how prices pan out although I believe that price will then become an issue for me.

Hey,

tho I can't really run DCS in all scenarios at y Native Retina's resolution of 2880x1800 I have done so for a few fly-high flyouts and it does look so much better compared to HD resolution.

If you can, aim higher than HD while keeping the screen as small as possible to not have a too large pixel distance. Retina is clearly the way to go when I play natively on this Mac.

4k or similar on a 27" I think will be affordable in the coming year... if your GTX 780 Ti in single non-SLI will be powerful enough to drive it, which I doubt.

Thanks for the input. Yes hopefully a 4k 27inch screen would do the job for me but I will have to wait on prices and availability for a unit with G-sync.
