About Us

Sabre Squadron was founded on the principal that fun overrides military protocol. This is shown in all of our activities where we strive to reach that perfect middle ground between serious operations and actually enjoying the game without excessive theory and procedure.

To make it extremely clear - we are not milsim. If you're looking for ranks, qualifications and full military procedures then this isn't the place for you. We do, however, incorporate some aspects of milsim into our operations purely for enjoyment (such as communications and flight/package organisation) that make our operations more enjoyable yet are simple and easy to learn.

As a squadron, we have no activity or time requirements - it is simply play as and when you like. Our main activities involve flying PVE servers such as Hoggit's 'At War' servers or 'Operation Enduring Odyssey'. As with most of DCS, our focus is on modern aircraft, however, we dabble in warbirds and will hopefully start running missions or even a campaign in the future.

We organise and communicate via Discord, which you can find in our 'Join Us' section. There are no forums or websites that require you to monitor for information (although we do love a good Google Doc). If there ever are external resources you need to check, we make sure it's known.

We like to run story-driver campaigns. Whilst we do run one-off missions sometimes, our preferred method is to run story-driven campaigns that our members create. If that whets your appetite, we have also ran hybrid campaigns where we link DCS with Arma 3 - with alternating missions in each game affecting the situation for the next one.

Help is always available - we have members of all skill levels who will be happy to help you along as you learn your new module. Our members range from new virtual pilots, to those who's theory knowledge is at such a level that some may say it's too much. Even if we can't answer something, we'll always be able to point you in the direction of finding your answer!

We do not have an official age requirement, however we require our members to have a mature attitude. We are by no means a 'serious' squadron, but we do pride ourselves on having our members know the difference between fun and being an asshole.

We don't just play DCS! Over time we've developed into a community of friends who like to play and discuss a variety of games together. You'll find our members have guilds/groups in games such as MSFS, IL2, Wargaming titles, Stormworks, Arma 3, Escape from Tarkov and we even have a Formula 1 Championship ongoing between members.
