fitness88 Posted November 19, 2020 Posted November 19, 2020 I find looking through the HUD, especially the upper half, prevents me from seeing properly due to its darker tint. I find myself at twilight or at night sometimes looking around the HUD to see more clearly. I know there are mods to remove it but is this real world tint? Thank you.
BuzzU Posted November 19, 2020 Posted November 19, 2020 Remove it and then we can't see looking in the sun. What we need is a tinted visor we can pull down. It's been asked for a lot but still no visor. Buzz

I don't experience any issue with the HUD being too dark, approaching twilight and at night, but I use VR, so everything is very dark during these times of 'day'. Do you use VR? What are your gamma settings at (in DCS main menu options tab under graphics header)? Guessing you are also actuating the day/night toggle switch below the UFC to dim the HUD display intensity during these conditions as well. BuzzU Posted November 19, 2020 Posted November 19, 2020 Thanks for the response BuzzU, so do you think the amount of current tint we have is modelled correctly? It seems ok. I could use darker at times but I use a Gamma setting of 2.2. Not sure why they won't give us a pull-down visor for all planes? They won't even respond to the request. Buzz
Ziptie Posted November 19, 2020 Posted November 19, 2020 Not sure why they won't give us a pull-down visor for all planes? They won't even respond to the request. I've +1'd that request as well, an actionable visor would be a welcome addition for all aircraft. I use 1.5 to 1.2 gamma transitional sunset to night. I dim the HUD very low I also use night light.
Ziptie Posted November 20, 2020 Posted November 20, 2020 Yes I use VR. I use 1.5 to 1.2 gamma transitional sunset to night. I dim the HUD very low I also use night light. Copy that. I use gamma of 1.5, so similar there. I also use the green filter on the flashlight, but rarely use the flood lights (not sure if that's what you meant by night light). Not sure what VR you use, I use the original Rift CV1 (not the greatest headset out there by any means) - so I suppose it could be down to the difference in the headsets. Hope you can find a good solution to your issue.
